Re: Buying a new machine
Also, if you are doing ½" once in a while, having 300A on tap will serve a whole lot better than a 200A-class machine. Not sure how you would even do ½" in any capacity with a 200A MIG using any process, unless you pre-heat perhaps? You run multiple passes or a different gas mix to get in...

Re: Buying a new machine
I've fabing for 45 years. A and have operated numerous machines over the years Question for you. I've always been operating transformer machines, and even in my personal shop, but my migmaster 251 just took a dump. I'm torn on getting an inverter machine or back to a transformer,,, which are ungodl...

Re: Looking for a new 'budget' MIG or MP machine.
I appreciate that information. I dont foresee myself needing 6010, I've never done anything with stick, other than just running a bead to see if I could do it... not a bad idea to have the capability to do some stick welding at some point, but it will be likely just an occasional use, if anything. ...

Re: Looking for a new 'budget' MIG or MP machine.
Pulse is something I've considered would be nice to reduce heat input into work piece when doing long continuous runs of weld, 30" or more on 3/16" or 1/4" material. Maybe that doesn't seem like much to you guys, but that's about the longest I'll run, probably, at one time. Just to c...

Even though there are nicer machines than the one you have now, no machine will endow you with consistency. Consistency is not a quality of a welding machine, it's an operator quality.

My welds are sinful so I'll spare you guys the retina burns. That's great! I love that line! I too started welding/TIG'g for automotive hobby parts. Back in 2011-2012 I hacked up and customized two sets of Mustang longtube headers for 90's Thunderbirds/Cougars. One set I still have the other ...

Re: Pulse welding
the average amperage should still be what you would normally set it to, based on the joint configuration. 40-60A for 16ga depending (outside corner takes less amps than inside corner). 100-140A for 12ga.

Re: HTP Revolution 2500 AC/DC Multi-Process
Hello Oscar, What is the chance of you getting some graphs of the MIG pulse and double pulse waveforms (shape + magnitude)? I am interested to see what the peak current is. Some machines set the maximum peak current at the nominal maximum current of the machine meaning that the average is considera...

I've had some leak. Tape won't help on the threads because they dont seal, BUT put some on the cone and watch those soap bubbles disappear.

I agree. I have some. Been around for years. I like it, but I wouldn't say it doesn't ball on AC at all. I'd say it depends on the settings.

Re: How to make sure Respirator is filtering properly
If the price difference isn't that much, go for the OV relief versions. Might as well. I've only used the 3M 2297 pancake filters that have carbon layers and they work really well so I'm not using anything different anytime soon.

Re: Spray/pulse
Oh yea, it looks pretty cool. Makes for cleaner welds since the switch to DCEN cleans the oxides off the filler wire in much the same way DCEP cleans the oxides off of the base metal. Gotta love microprocessor-controlled inverter welders! :D It's just too bad these awesome European companies don't h...

Re: Spray/pulse
Dip pulse doesn't sound like a thing to me - is it? There are different implementations but most seem to be spray pulse - some globular pulse. I presume the distinction being the size of the droplet. On several machines that I've looked at (not used), the peak pulse current was within the normal op...

No one said you don't fit here. Don't read that much into it. :) The reviews I was talking about was more "in general". I'm just saying don't get your hopes up since pulsing with MIG when trying to actually introduce spray transfer is a very sophisticated process that requires very robust ...

Re: Spray/pulse
What I've come to learn is no, "pulse" doesn't always definitively mean that it initiates a true sprayed droplet(s). There are some technologies out there where the microprocessor causes really interesting things by ramping the welding current/voltage up & down that don't always initia...

Re: .045 Mig or Hardwire Voltage/IPM/Amperage Help
What thickness steel are you welding? What is the orientation of the part? What settings have you actually tried on a specific part? (please don't say you've tried everything, because that doesn't help us help you, lol). How do you know it is not dialed in, as in, what are you seeing/measuring/detec...
