I respectfully disagree. With about 4-6 rods of 6010 (or 6011) I can dial in my brain and the machine semi-decently to get stacks.

Re: weld spatter on helmet lens
The short answer that you don't want to hear is, that autodarkening filter is ruined. Even if you could get the BB's off, the arc light will be refracted by the burn spots, your whole view will be hazy and blurry. Good thing it only cost $50. But lesson learned. You must use the clear inner/outer pl...

Re: Making 6010 run on inverter
try some butt join sheet metal, or thin wall tubing. usually its thin stuff where pulse comes in handy, at least with tig. Yep, pulse SMAW is nearly identical to pulse TIG, where you set the peak, and then it drops down to the background current; but in the case of SMAW, you can't arbitrarily set t...

Re: Making 6010 run on inverter
I should get a small pack just to compare. I've noticed the 6010s that have a thicker flux coating are more difficult to sustain the arc. Even a tiny increase in overall OD, leads to a huge increase in flux volume (in some, close to +200%) compared to say Lincoln 5P+ 6010s.

Re: Making 6010 run on inverter
With all the talk of 6010 rods I was interested to see how well they would work with the WeldSkill 180. 6010s aren't readily available here unless you weld pipes as your day job. I don't so I ordered some from the US on Amazon - when they arrived, the flux was still on the rods so I was off to a go...

Correct, sbaker. The are the actual manufacturer of most of the HTP machines, based out of Italy. Definitely not cheap, lol. To the rest of the world outside of the US, they are to those countries what Miller/Lincoln are to the USA. https://www.youtube.com/user/StelWelding/videos http://www.stelgrou...

Re: Information on Dc Offset?
Let's say there's an AC signal with 20V of amplitude and a DC 10V signal multiplexed in as the offset. On an oscilloscope what you see is an AC waveform that varies from 10V to 30V. In what application that is used when welding I do not know, but I suspect it benefits when doing heavy aluminum weld...

I'm not an EE nor do I know a lot about welder circuitry, so I'll just leave it at that. Plastic protective sheets on both sides, likely to protect against accidental short-circuits if the case is bent inwards https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1_mOArtSjlFhPB2FfuJfC61nGip232jUu No cheesy...

Re: HTP InverArc 160 Plus DV - Dual-Voltage Stick/TIG welder
Yup, I agree. A few here and there have tested additional inductance and it seems to definitely help. Peeking into the front vent I can see a decent sized toroid with good sized wire wrapped around it. I should take it apart and have a better look inside. I also agree on the 5P/5P+. Böhler comes in ...

I know this wont be helpful but having quick googlate at USA stick welding offerings.......WOW :o I checked at least 5 online stores the cheapest decent brand was 500 usd. That's just how it is, I suppose. A lot of times the power supplies add to the cost since they [at times] come with 120V & ...

Seems pretty good indeed... I tried to check on their website and its's there but I am arriving on a «page not found». Can you tell us how much you paid for this one? Good to know it can run 6010 decently... It is hard to figure these days — which one will, based on specs... It's not there because ...

Re: Looking for a machine...
So this stick welder is dual-voltage, but it does not have arc force adjustment that you require. None the less, my initial observations/testing tells me it's pretty good. HTP's customer service is 2nd to none, and I doubt that they have relaxed any quality control to get this new machine produced.

HTP InverArc 160 Plus DV - Dual-Voltage Stick/TIG welder
Just got this new little guy from HTP. It looks like they're wanting to compete with some of the other "lunchbox" stick welder offerings from other companies, with a few advantages. https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1dYyCEuV4R4XMdAnH8xjuSa-lPh7EtC4- Thinking it was going to be...

Re: 6G sch80 rod difficulty
A lot of stick welders simply cannot run E6010. They cannot sustain the required arc voltage during welding to keep a 6010 properly lit. I highly suspect this is the case. It is especially common with multi-process welders, IMO.

Re: Gas lens sound difference
If there was, I don't think I've heard much. Not enough to tell a difference, IMO. As long as you're not leaking gas and producing compromised weld beads, then I don't think it plays a huge role, but then again we're not there to hear the difference.

Re: Making 6010 run on inverter
An interesting thing happened today, Whilst welding several wide gaps with 7016 for some reason I was able to somehow able to keep filling in the gap, without it all falling down and becoming a giant hole. It pretty much seemed to be case of just sticking the rod more in there, closer, and directin...

Thanks for the suggestion. These never popped up on my previous searches for water traps, so I didn't really know about them. I will for sure put one on the compressor and also figure out a way to plumb one into the manifold at the outlet in my garage. I think they are exactly what I need. Better y...
