I always use my right hand but I practice left hand for going left to right with tig but if I'm wanting to stack dimes ill use my right hand holding the torch I would try going with the left hand holding the torch because you write left handed but hey being good at both couldn't hurt!!

I was working as a helper for a welder today and all the sudden his vantage 300 with the kabota diesel won't strike an arc it happened in the time of two minutes between welds. Any one have any idea what it might be??

What all metals can you weld with scratch start?

First on the welding table if you have the option of going thicker than 1/4 I would all the heat from welding will end up bowing the table top, And for stick welding Jody makes a bunch of good stick welding videos showing ALOT of arc shots and positioning ect... Hell of a find I've been looking around at my local scrap yard a lot lately since schools out, hoping to find a welding table and ain't been able to yet

This is why I love this forum everybody's friendly and will help you out me only having 2 years welding experience but want to make a career out of it later in life I have a lot of questions and everyone always helps

Is there a specific tungsten that should be used on mild steel? Or is it just kind of a user preference type deal?

I have a Hobart 210mvp. The tap settings for voltage don't bother me a bit. It also does very well on 115 v power. I have the 181i I wish I had the 211i but I got it for free but it's a great little welder and actually impressed me I'm happy with it and its very easy to move its easy to use and it has a door chart but now most mig welders do now.

I'm planning to start teaching myself tig soon and all I need now is a bottle of Argon I've seen small bottles and I'm curious on what bottle size would be best?
