Lincoln 180 CRAZY wire feed problem SOLVED

Thanks a lot all of you for your feeding, after reading the first two comments here, saying that may be a short circuit I decided that if I had to replace my gun, i will at least open it first and try to fix it, the problem was caused as you said, for a short circuit. Re: Lincoln 180 CRAZY wire feed problem

Thanks both of you for than fast response, is there some way to find the problem or correct/fix it? I'm not sure I can find near here a replacement for that gun in a short term (Baja, Mexico). And if I have to replace this one, can you recommend me a good quality gun please?

Thanks

Esteban.

First welding

Well, after clear some doubts here in the forum, I've been practicing a little bit before going to do my job (or try, at least) Wire speed and Volts as recomended for the manufacturer are in lowest position. Re: My fisrt question

7018 rod is a 70,000 psi rod The wire you are using is the AWS E71T-11 It just carries the Lincoln brand numbers on it. In the AWS form, the "7" means 70,000 psi. Again, read the link provided. I saw the link you post for me, I saw the tensile strenght, thanks for the help and information...

Re: My fisrt question

When it comes to wire diameter you have no reason to think about buying any wire larger then .035 . With your welder 180 amps all you will need/use is .035 . Mig is just as strong as anything if done right, so buy some .035 lincoln flux cored and you should be able to weld your 14ga to 1/4 easily ....

Re: My fisrt question

Your door chart on the welder gives you wire sizes, and the recommended settings for them, and what thickness of steel the settings/wire will work well on. Is your door chart missing? Read the specs on your wire here: http://www.lincolnelectric.com/assets/global/Products/Consumable_Flux-CoredWires-...
