I heard pretty good things about Everlast's Powerarc 200 & 300 welders. You might want to check them out.

Metal cutting blade on a circular saw

I have a planned project coming up, a machinist work table. I am going to use 1/2" plate for the top. I want it to be as flat as possible so I'm not going to use my cutting torch. I was thinking of using a metal blade on a circular saw & starting out with the blade at 1/8", make the cu...

I built this about 10 years ago. It's a little smaller but weighs just as much.

Re: Zinc on metal question

I use flux core wire (Lincoln NR 211) when I use MIG to weld on galvanize material & 6011 when I use stick. Use a approved respirator when welding galvanized material in a well ventilated area. This stuff can you you sick!

Re: Which Helmet do i buy?

I recieved a brand new Miller Digital Elite Stars & Stripes 3 yesterday in the mail. I used an older Miller Digital Elite for 7 years until the batteries leaked & ate up the rubber holders & damaged the board inside. I am just a hobby welder & the Digital elite works fine for me.

Helium

Hey everyone, how's it! I was thinking about getting some helium just to mess around with & I freaked out on the refill prices out here (I live on Guam, a US territory). $566 for 300 cf & about 300+ for the small bottle. Just curious, how much is it out in your area? Have a good one. Bill

I have one and it's a good stick welder too. Smooth on DC stick. HTP is having a Black Friday Sale and they are about $200 less. Last year they ran out fast.

Re: favorite brand of 7018?

I liked using Excalibur welding rods with my Miller AC/DC buzz box, 3/32 & 1/8. For me it welds smooth. They don't sell them out here anymore, too expensive.

Hello, I have a Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC and I am still using the stinger that came with it. It fits right in my hand and feels comfortable. As for the ground clamp, HTP has good ones but kind of pricy.

Wow

I bought a Hypertherm Powercut 45 last Dec & finally used it today to cut some 2.5 x 2.5 x 3/8 angled iron. WOW!! Smooth and fast. Looks like the Milwaukee grinders will used only for grinding using flap and grinding discs. Here are a couple of pics. http://i1362.photobucket.com/albums/r692/mago...

Hey everyone, first of all, Merry Christmas!!
This room used to be a "Lanai" in my house. I converted it to my small machine shop. I have made small parts with this mill but mostly mill square, rectangular tube & piping for welding.
