Re: Plz Help..SS welds half grey!

I am not the best so I use a large gas lense and way more post flow than normal to C my A on stainless. Don't use too much gas flow as it may create turbulence and effect the full coverage.

Re: Dynasty vs Syncrowave which to buy?

I have had my dynasty for a little over a year and love it. I love the portability I take it everywhere and its flawless. I do mostly thin fabrication any where fron .040 to 3/16 depending on application. Have done steel stainless aluminum never a problem. Haven't messed with pulse features yet. Mac...

Re: What is the best color to use for welding aluminum?

I have a dynasty and have tried red and dark blue. The dark blue 2% lanthanated works or holds up the best for me . I sharpen it like I would for steel and put a flat land on the tip. the red 2% thoriated will work in a bind but splits and spits too much for a critical weld.

Don't know as far as welding but I think loctite made an aluminum thread repair kit that worked like jb weld a paste solution. Don't know about the strength though.

Re: New to welding

It all depends on needs. You can't use amps you don't have. I am still a noob (in my own mind) I finished tig school at my local comunity colledge last year and bought a dynasty 200 and it was the best money I ever spent. Best advice I can give is learn from someone knowledgable and practice like cr...

Re: Acetone, Alcohol, Thinner.

Alcohol should be fine to clean you still need to wire brush the joint just prior to welding to remove oxidation with an aluminum dedicated stainless brush.

Re: miller 200dx questions

I have a 200dx and love it. From your post "doing aluminum mostly" I can forsee amperage limit situations with the 200 for you. When I was forum searching for my first tig I was always told you can't use amps you don't have. I guess the big question is how thick of a material am I going to...

? the last e-mail vid

OK I am stupid. I only have a year of tig under my belt but in the last vid Jody said it was 1/4 tube and he was at 120 to 135 amps. With the general rule of 1 amp per 1 thousandth of thickness it would logically seem he was too cold. But the welds looked great. I really don't mean to sound stupid b...

I have the clear and 5 shade a bit bulky but work good. Nice foam insert to completely seal around eye area with relief notches to prevent fogging up.

The customer wants to leave the assembly as is post weld for the fabrication apperance (haz and weld color left as welded). Any tips or tri...
