Re: Now I'm starting to feel a lil more confident!!!
I just started to tig about a month ago when i bought an everlast 205s. Although I cant speak for how long this unit will last I can tell you it has a very smooth arc & very easy to set and control once you understand what each knob does. So from your comments I'm guessing that it seems to be go...

Now I'm starting to feel a lil more confident!!!
in the first pic I think my welds are starting to look a lilttle better. The second pic is the back side, and I dont know if thats how it is supposed to look or if I just used too much heat. I am finally getting to the point where I can see the etching zone and see when things are starting to go wro...

Re: TIG critiqueing needed
Thanks, its only about a total of 4 hours practice I just don't have a lot of time right now, I'm in the process of building my dream shop 24' x 45' and it is taking a lot of my time. And as far as using the pedal you are right its like chewing gum, walking, and rubbing your head at the same time! B...

Re: My first TIG welds
Does anyone have some type of settings chart for tig cause this manual dont say squat.
in this pic the alum angle on top is 1/16'' and the alum flatbar in the center is 3/16'' and at the
bottom is 1/8 steel square tubing.

My first TIG welds
Below is a pic of My first TIG welds. Yesterday My new EVERLAST POWER PRO 205S came in and today even though I have no idea how to set up the dam thing, I said what the hell and gave it a go. Any and all criticism welcome. One thing I noticed was that while welding the aluminum even when I didn't di...

Re: What the hell is happening?
Hey guys I just want to start by saying thanks yall are very very helpful. I actually bought Jody's DVD'S so maybe that will help to. Just to be clear you say even on the thin stock I should preheat with a propane torch and then when I start welding as the weld progresses I need to move faster and f...

Re: What the hell is happening?
ok I think we got it figured out to some extent, and now I need a lot of practice. I noticed an immediate improvement after changing the polarity, but aluminum seems to be as thin as water and I keep getting blowouts . Is there a certain pattern I should do or should I just keep going in a straight ...

Re: What the hell is happening?
Its not tig, I am using a hobart handler 210 MVP and spool runner 100 on 115 volts. the mig wire is ER5356 I am using 100% ARGON and the aluminum I bought at tractor supply I guess its just stock aluminum you can pick up at lowes or home depot. and i am 100% positive it is user error.

Re: First builds
For my next project I was thinking of building a utility trailer maybe 6' x 14'. Im thinking 2'' x 2'' x 3/16'' angle on the main frame and 2'' x 2'' 1/8'' on the rails with 3500# single axle. Does this sound adequate or do I need heavier steel?

First builds
Here is a couple deer stands I just finished. Nothing fancy, took a full day of cutting and welding. It was a lot of work flyin solo without any type of lift. From the floor down is 1.5'' x 1/8'' square tubing and above the floor is 1'' x 1/8'' square tubing.
