If you dont cover while welding you may get some splatter when useing mig. Get your welder tuned in and you may not have a problem. Noddys right its all bad for you. If your really concerned get a safety mask. In my exp the worst stuff comes off the base metal paint, dirt, asphalt, galvinized and any number of things depending on where and what your welding. I find a #10 gold lens work best for me on everything. In fact it may be a little light for core wire. I can see real good however I think i might go blind one day lol.

Im only 29 but im old school. I swear by my Fiber Metal Pipeliner with the 4x2. Dont ever have to worry about it cutting off when you roll the cup.
