For all position welding set machine for between 24 volts and 160 ipm up to 26 volts and 225 ipm. I use no movement of the wire, no oscillation, just let the arc do the work. In other words, no too fast on the travel speed, like the previous post said.

SA 200 windings
I just bought a used SA200 and would like to find out if it has copper or aluminum windings. How do I find this information?

After re-reading your original post, I would suggest making sure the electrical stick out is at least 3/4", preferrably 1". Also, I have less trouble with tip seizures if I hold the wire against the work when I pull the trigger on the gun. I use this XLR-8 wire on every kind of fabrication...

I use Hobart XLR-8 in 1/16" diameter.

I use Hobart XLR-8, size 1/16" with good results.

My main work is bore welding and line-boring. I use Bortech for welding with a Miller XMT-304 and Big Blue 350 Pipe Pro for field jobs. I do my work in my shop and in my customer's shops and job sites. I also do general repair welding and hard facing.
