Welding Coupon Carrier?

Hi all, it's been a while since visiting the site. Good to be back. Anyhow, in November I was laid off from a company where we built pressure vessels for all over the U.S. and at one time, the world. Noticing that it has been a minute since any process of welding, I'd like to get some precut coupons...

Re: Welding Hood Help?

Thanks guys. Seems that everyone, including my current and previous welding instructors have the exact same answer. I have about six different hoods as it is. Currently I use a Miller Digital Elite. A fantastic hood for every application I have needed it. However, it can be a bit cumbersome at times...

Re: Welding Hood Help?

Thanks. Yeah, I mean, from day one of learning to weld all I have heard as a main key point is get comfortable. I just wasn't sure if boilermakers were required to wear a specific hood or if it was personal preference. My first week of college classes my neck hurt from my Miller Digital Elite being ...

Welding Hood Help?

A friend of mine took a welding test for the local boilermakers union. I too plan on taking this test. However, I want to be comfortable in my gear. Is there a specified hood that boilermakers wear? I'm getting a Fibre-Metal Pipeliner style hood today, however I have several hoods already but I want...

Re: Starting out on my own soon. Questions?

AKweldshop, I've since seen a few decently priced Bobcats on CL. I've began to give CL a bit more looking than I normally do for my area.

Re: Starting out on my own soon. Questions?

Don't get me wrong, AFSATCOM, I've heard great things about the Fabricator and Thermal Arc in general. Personally, I'm a Miller man. I've used this and that at my dad's place of business just making small repairs and odd jobs but none have stood out above the Miller's that I've used. The Bobcat 250 ...

Re: Starting out on my own soon. Questions?

AKweldshop, I'd like to keep it all under about $2,000. I haven't looked at the Maxstar 200, I'll have to give it a gander.

Re: Starting out on my own soon. Questions?

I'd like to have at least stick and DC tig capabilities, but I have come across things where a mig would be perfect for that particular project. I think that's what pulled me towards the Multimatic, the MIG option that is. I work almost exclusively with mild steel constantly. I have had to turn a fe...

Starting out on my own soon. Questions?

Hi, so I plan on doing some more heavier duty "call out" work while I'm in college. I already have all the hand tools and grinders and such. I have a small 120v inverter stick welder however, I'm looking to upgrade. I've been eyeing the Maxstar 150 STL as well as the Multimatic 200. Would ...

Re: I'm a new kid around town.

Alexa,
No I have not yet made a list. I have for a while looked at Tulsa Welding School a little. Other than that, I really haven't looked into any others.

I'm a new kid around town.

Hi there, my name is Will, or as my profile name says, WeldItWill. I'm in my last year of high school now, and have been in a welding class from the start of 10th grade. Since about two weeks after starting I have been in love with welding. It naturally came to me. I've been the top welder in my cla...
