It looks like a cold weld, I have a few blokes where I work that refuse to crank up the amps, their welds resemble chicken shit, but going by your pic, chicken shit holds...... :D

The importance of properly made jigs for mass reproduction.

The importance of properly made jigs for mass reproduction work. I landed a job just recently as a production supervisor in a welding shop, we make stillages, ladders and basically what ever is required. The first week was to get orientated with the place,I could see that some improvements could be ...

Re: Black soot on ali welds.

An update. The pure Al wire didnt help nor did the wider nozzle, but I was very surprised at the difference the gas with 25% Helium made, there was hardly any black soot (smut), you could see the side the welder came from had non, the other side due to nozzle angle had some soot which wiped off with...

Re: No sizzles when Welding?

Yeah sorry, could have been more descriptive haha. I'm using a Lincoln 155 WeldPak (220V) 75-25 mix of 02/argon, .30 wire, welding 16-18 sheet for the car. The setting the panel "recommends" for voltage is "b" with a WS of 2.5 or "c" to 3.5. Doesnt happen all the time,...

Re: No sizzles when Welding?

I've had this happen on a few occasions and I'm not sure what it is. I'll be elding and it will either stop sizzling like bacon or it will just never sizzle at all and it will just make no real noise at all, and just kinda generate heat and lay down bead. Seems to penetrate still. IDK how to explai...

Re: plasma cutting on a regular basis

i had a small miller 110v plasma cutter. i believe it was the spectrum model. it was very handy for light material up to almost 1/8" then became obsolete when the consumable tips got too expensive if i could find them so now it's collecting dust on a shelf. Cant you buy the Chinese ones off Eb...

Re: Black soot on ali welds.

I did an update sometime ago but it didnt seem to stick so Ill try again. I tried the gas drier but nothing changed the smut was still there. We have just received a roll of pure Al wire and will try that with the pure Argon, the rep from Air Liquide said that a mixture of Argon and 25% Helium may h...

Re: Started practicing with my MIG today ...

weld often, watch the puddle, watch the puddle, watch the puddle, and have fun. Good advise. :) I also like to listen to the weld puddle, it should just make hissssssssssss sound if you have wire and volts set right, this will give you a nice flat weld (if that is what you are after). If you get to...

The "bars" are BOLTED to the bumper. Note the shadow line. What a bunch of junk. A real welder would be ashamed. Steve S I did see that, I just assumed it was for packing and freight purposes. I did a google and came up with this, most is for Jeep but could be modified. https://www.google...

I recently used one of them inverter welding machines with low hydrogen rods, the rods dont stick at all, re starting the rod is a breeze too. These welders are not much bigger than a lunch box. :) they cost about $400 https://www.alltools.com.au/shop/images/sz/1255.jpg https://www.alltools.com.au/s...
