Re: Spray-arc

i am slowly upgrading my equipment such as tanks and hoses that are longer and such. i found a torch that looks pretty heavy duty and its made for propane cutting, its made by smith equipment. its a very nice chrome plated torch and regulators. we used smith cutting tools at my last industrial shop ...

Re: Spray-arc

i thought hydrogen was pretty flammable lol. ive used accetline for cutting but i use propane now and it works just fine for cutting steel, just today i cut a peice of 1/4 inch steel and it cut right through it with no problem, but im sure it would cut through half inch and possibly even 3/4 inch st...

Re: Spray-arc

correct me if im wrong but isnt hydrogen highly unstable, the same reason why automobile companies wont use hydrogen to power the automobiles instead of gas. by compressing that into a gas cylinder would make the risk even higher if something was to happen inside of a shop? say if something happened...

Re: Spray-arc

i am confused with the whole idea of people adding oxygen to tank mixtures, doesnt that contaminate welds just as if wind is to blow away the shield? i have never seen any mixture in my area include oxygen. all we can get is argon,co2, helium for welding. but for cutting we can get full tanks of oxy...

Re: Spray-arc

i have 90/10 argon co2, 75/25 argon co2 and i have pure argon. i use pure argon for my tig machine, my 90/10 and 75/25 are both on my 220 mig welder, i was curious, if you use 98/2 argon co2 then why dont you just as well run pure argon? i wasnt sure if that would work or not. with that little of co...

Re: Spray-arc

thank you otto. i have been welding and working with steels since i was pretty young as well, im just now falling into the category of one of the most best welders in this town. i learn from experience, not textbooks or anything of that nature, i learn by doing it and i cant afford to buy a lot more...

Re: Spray-arc

the gas i was refering to for being pricey is the mixed gas. such as the 90/10, they want around 50$ more for a mixed gas than they would straight co2. stick welding is not an option in any way shape or form with my situation. dont have a big enough generator or a big generator/welder, i dont do eno...

Re: Spray-arc

my only options for the blush tanks are 75/25 ar/co2 and the 90/10. those mixes are the same price roughly. any other mix that i would want they can order it for me but there would be an added on convenience fee of $100.00 so yeah i dont need to pay an extra 100 dollars for a tiny tiny difference in...

Re: Spray-arc

thanks rake. but my big machine will not do anything below 1/4 inch steel, it simply has a mind of its own, the longer i hold the trigger the hotter she gets. with my 110 machine i could try it but not with the 220. so what your saying is co2 gets more penetration than a blush tank(ar/co2) mix? if t...

Re: Spray-arc

hey guys and girls, if there are any girls, welcome. this 90/10 gas mix is working beautiful, nice smooth arc and beautiful. but i was wondering, i now have 3 tanks. one tank is 75/25 ar/co2 for my 220 airco mig, the second tank is 90/10 ar/co2 also for my 220 mig, and for aluminum on my tig rig i h...

Re: Spray-arc

well since we have this spray arc page i think we should use this page just for that. i got a argon co2 tank of 90 10 already, boss gave me 250 bucks just for the tank. it made a different for spray transfer and its a nice smooth arc and i have the voltage lower than i had to have it before and it i...

Re: Tower construction

i do this solid wire and dual shield inside my shop with the doors closed and there are no drafts. that way there is no air being push near the area im welding or any air being pulled away. i usually do about 5 welds then open the shop door to air out the place. the smoke doesnt seem to bother me bu...

thank you for the help.im starting on this 3rd tower now and i welded a peice of 4 inch pipe to the plate that holds the entire tower down. theres a hole big enough in the plate that the pipe slides through it. i have 2 feet sticking through the bottom and 3 feet on top. i used spray transfer with s...

hello, i have a question about acid etching and cleaning steel with muriatic acid. i just started using muriatic acid to strip old metals of rust before i weld them and it seems to work well. my question is after the acid has removed the heavy rust and i spray it with water to remove the acid, whats...

Re: Tower construction

Re: Tower construction

i do the soap bubble testing on all of my machines if i have gas hooked up and they usually do fine. and i dont have to tighten them too much usually either. in the welding school i went to my instructor said open the valves only half way in case you need to turn them off quickly in case of fire lik...

i have a cutting torch setup with long hoses for long enough reach i can walk around my house from my shop in the back and cut whatever i need to cut. i am running propane and oxygen. i went to the propane because its pretty decent for cutting up scrap and stuff up to 3/8 thick for cutting, and it t...

Re: Tower construction

hello, i have another question. this dualshield wire ive been running inside my Airco dip-pak 200 mig welder, sometimes i get porosity in the welds and other times it is smooth. i know this wire is meant to run the same polarity as plain mig welding except you turn up the heat and the wire speed to ...
