Nice looking project. Those box would look seamless if only the welds would be properly polished.

Again great job man ! ;)

Well I use the Safety Jogger steel toe semi-boots, its strong, very light and flexible.
Also have the Sketchers safety shoes, comfortable but a bit heavy.

Re: 6g 7018 pipe help question

Maybe you are doing it a bit slow so you are building up those beads, try speeding up a bit your travel speed to get some flatter bead welds. Just my personal opinion !
;) :)

Re: What I welded today, stick section!

Well here's mine, just a very simple project attaching two 3/8" rounded plates to two pcs of 2" GI pipes to be used as a post for a small gate project. Only used a 1/8" 6013 rods at 120 amps DC stick inverter. I know the 6013 rods are not popular in the forum but its what is used and ...

Re: Firewood Holder

I don't think the heavy firewood will cause the sides to bend outward on each shelf. You've got to remember, the concentration of the full weight on each shelf is downwards so I am more concerned with the thickness of the shelf you will use or the support you will add under. With regards to the angl...

Re: Firewood Holder

Wow using flat plates of 1/8" thickness and eight feet in height will surely have some problems specially in warpage and distortion. Better yet simply use square tubings or angle irons of 1/4" thickness with some supports here and there. You may even add some geometric or ornamental scroll...

Re: Success stories of Harbor Freight 91110 inverter?

Bump. Hoping for some input on the welds a couple posts above. Much thanks. Well not really that easy to weld on thin sheets as 20, 18 or 16 gauges using stick that is why most would use mig or tig process. But anyway it can still be done using the 1/16 or 3/32 rods with much practice by doing stit...

YES ! my oh my, she's so gorgeous and stunning and giving me goose bumps !! :D  Anyway, hey CrazyCarl , I think your weld beads are kinda ok but I see in your post that your travel speed is sorta fast so I guess you have to slow down a bit to achieve a very satisfactory uniform bead application...

Re: Success stories of Harbor Freight 91110 inverter?

For thin sheet metals, its best to use a Mig or a Tig. But since I myself don't have one yet, I do use a Taiwan made 200 amp DC stick welder for thin walled projects using 1/16" or 3/32" 6013 rods, but really very careful on the application avoiding warping and worm holes which at times I ...

Re: back up hood

Well if price is not of your concern, then get a Jackson Balder BH3, have read lots of good reviews on this hood. Another great welding hoods are 3M Speedglas or Optrel .

Me, I'm just using ESAB welding helmets which I find very comfortable to use due to its lightness and wide viewing windows. ;)

Re: My little welding table

Your lucky to have a very spacious shop for that " little welding table " LOL ! Yup sure is a very very nice work bench but my only concern is the 3/16" thickness of the table top, that will easily be prone to warping during continuous welding. Perhaps you could add more support...
