I dont know if anyone heard but they are putting a new pipeline thru NY and NJ (where I live) and there are welding trucks everywhere (have seen some pretty cool welders) but anyway I was talking to one of my friends who brother is a pro welder and is working on the pipeline. He told me he was making...

Re: Stick welding aluminum
The slag will be really heavy (heavy enough to choke out your arc if you dont move fast enough) and you need to really smack the slag hard to break it when you are ready to clean it... also stick burns REALLY fast - more then 2X speed of reg electrode. also practice because trying to tie in if your ...

Re: MIG Aluminum FAIL!
I would imadgine if you did what was needed and it was under replacement cost or even the same price as another 30 year old trailer they would get it fixed because then it is just that much better... I am comparing it to lets say getting a Stihl 880 chainsaw rebuilt for $400 and it will be "lik...

Re: Are cattle chutes pattented?
Forgot to mention they might look complex but they are not and a squeeze chute with a few gates is cheep for 3k with way less then 1k in labor/parts.

Are cattle chutes pattented?
Hi everyone! I am thinking of trying to build some cattle chutes and selling them... materials and labor are next to nothing and all welds are simple verical/Horizontal and a few tacks...+ them sell for alot of money and are in demand... It all sounds to easy so I was wondering if there is some sort...

Re: Welding thin metal
Hi Querty12. Something you might want to try is making small circles when welding to lay out a even coat of new metal. It also will probably have less burn thru because you are moving the heat around. or maybe try another pass or two over the first weld. from one beginner to another I think your wel...

*** I googled what a 10 amp socket looks like and it says there are 3 types (1-2 prong and 2-3 prong) and if you are using the 3 prong version it should have the same set up as a us 110 volt 3 prong plug (shouldent it?)

Re: Any good single phase stick welders for the back yard?
This is a welder I bought off of ebay - very cheap and gets the job done. 110 volts goes up to 160 amps 220 volt goes up to 200 amps. I burn 2.5mm and 3.2mm on it every day and it can do 4.0 mm without a problem. 3.2 mm it is at %30 and 2.5 it is at %50 efficincy. Here is the ebay link - like I said...

First off do you need dual voltage or one that will only work on either 110 or 220.. I weld in the Dairy and Machine barn in diffrent places so if I had to I could wire in 1 or 2 more 220 plugins. It looks like I am going to buy a used welder just because the new ones are alot of money :( miler 200...

Re: looking to buy a mig welder.
The recomended Amps is 120 - 160 for the sticks and since I am on 110 most of the time and my machine is not quality I weld at 180 amps A/C and no there are no Wooshing sounds or excesive splatter. If i remember right I use around 120 amps for 3MM witch is at the top of the 80-120 amp range on the p...
