Getting started with stick... rod selection?

I have a Miller Maxstar 200 (DC only) & can do some decent TIG work at times (a lot of the time it works, but looks like crap). I haven't done any stick welding since high school metal shop back in the 90's. As most of what I'm doing now is tinkering with tractor implements, the metal is often p...

Plasma cutting & plasma cutters

It might be cool to do a video on plasma cutting. I just picked up my first one & have made a few cuts with it, but still have a ways to go. I definitely would have loved to have a Welding Tips & Tricks video on features, comparisons & stuff before I bought mine, although so far I'm happ...

Re: Hobby plasma or other metal cutter?

I think so. I see SuperCut 50P & PowerPlasma 50 at http://www.everlastgenerators.com/produ ... ry-57.html that look like they would fit the bill. Looks like the main difference is blowback vs HF start, of which I'm not familiar with most of the drawbacks or benefits are.

Hobby plasma or other metal cutter?

I have a Miller Maxstar 200 & one of the cheap ubiquitous 4.5"x7" horizontal bandsaws that's always finicky. We recently moved to 5 acres with a shop, so I now have more room to tinker & more projects. I've come to realize the bandsaw & hand tools aren't up to snuff for current...

Re: Oxy Gasoline cutting.

As with any large company, advice comes from several different employees who all form their own opinions. The following link from Coleman has more information on this topic. http://coleman.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61 I live in Canada, so note the part that says, Unleaded gas from Canada...

Maxstar 200dx vs Dynasty 200sd

I recently picked up a Maxstar 200dx & have been pretty happy with it learning to TIG. I wanted a Dynasty 200dx, but couldn't afford it. I've seen a good priced Dynasty 200sd show up locally & was thinking about possibly upgrading. The Maxstar's are identical to the same model of Dynasty (wi...

Any good recommendations on good places to grab rod & other supplies online? I haven't been able to Google up anybody online carying the Hastelloy W that has been recommended.
