Re: Welding Safety

So I just got back from the hospital tonight. At my work we use SPRAYON WELDER'S DRY ANTI-SPATTER made by Krylon. Well i was running a root pass on some pipe and there was a can on the table with no cap on it. As I was coming down to the bottom my elbow pressed the nozzle and shot it straight into t...

Re: Aluminum What causes this?

I had almost the exact same issue when I set up my Fabricator 181i
The tig gun was defective and the tungsten was way off centre so it didn't get proper sheilding. They rellaced it and all the consumables cor it at no cost.

Re: best brand of 7018, by experience only

I found that if all my perimeters where correct ie angle of rod, distance from puddle and such.
That the Excalibers slag would peel up as i welded.
Just a very light tap and would fall away. That being said if I do the opposite the slag is a bear to get off.

Re: Number of Mig rolls in a day,

When I was doing production stuff at the shop I would go through 2 rolls of 40kg 035 in 3 days. That was nonstop cursive e weave pattern. Pushing anymore would just rusult in oversided convex welds. They told me to slow down and that I was going faster than anyone had before. I told him if I slowed ...

These boots are made cor walkin....

Well I walked out of my job this morning. Now I know why old time welders will stop welding if you come along and start watching them. My foreman asked me to let on of the senior welders watch me tig. I said sure, not really thinking it through. I am the only qualified welder they had and the only o...

That piece will actually be powder coated. Not sure why they wanted stainless if they where going to do that but hey it's their money.... I wouldn't do any high quality stuff on that table. The crazy thing is that they don't even have anything for cleaning the ss with. The supervisor wouldn't even g...

Yeah I learned about the money thing in my 20's. I was the one making less with more time in. He liked to complain that they didn't pay him enough. The braggered was not with us very long. (Probably because he was aweful at his job) This table isn't for welding, which is why I painted it. I will be ...

Yeah they have been throwing more and more challenging stuff at me each day. I like it since it makes the day fly past much faster. There is an air deflector in the center. To split the flow. Today I was making stainless mesh filter covers that where 59"x63" They have a stainless u shaped ...
