no I know I had it switched back and I think it has to be the regulator. I ordered a new flowmeter to try out. thanks for the help

not porosity but a kind of sooty even on steel it didn't look quite right and the tungsten gets dark grey after I strike an arc with a fresh ground tip. When I run a bead on aluminum as the bead forms you can see some black floating around in it. The rod is new and clean, everything is new and clean...

argon issue
I am new to tig and have a dynasty 200dx. My first few times using it everything was going well and I was doing decent with aluminum. Then I went to use it another day with aluminum and all the beads were looking like some contamination even after changing flow rates and other things to fix the prob...

certanium 707 rod
I have never used 707 rod but have access to some and was wondering if it is worth bringing home a handful. I looked it up and it sounds like a good all around rod. Any thoughts?.....also thoughts on royal 220. thanks

thanks for the responses, I ordered a gas lens set since I neeeded cups anyway so I think it was a good idea. Also what about the helium/argon mix, it sounds like it's only for aluminum but haven't heard an answer yet. Thanks

Another question, helium/argon mix is only for aluminum or can it be used on steel?

I am new to tig welding and have been doing my research but have a question I hope someone can clear up. What is a general guideline to use to choose what size gas cup and flow rate. Also if you use a smaller cup do you lower your flow rate because of the smaller oriffice or turn it up? I have only ...
