Re: Question... Welding 1/8 angle
For 1/8", it doesn't really matter what electrodes,as long as the amps are kept down. A 1/8 7018 would be required to run too hot and ultimately might burn through. Also, they run slower if that's any concern. Others have suggested the 3/32" sized electrodes and that's wise. What AK sugges...

Re: Transformer Vs. Inverter For Stick Welding???
I like both styles for different purposes. If I had to choose only one however, it would be an old Idealarc 250, hands down.

I'm lost.... :? John, Google those two words. :D -Jonathan OK, How does it relate?? This doesn't make sense. Do I have to get down on my knees and beg for a compliment?? What gives?? ~John Compliment for what? I don't see anything spectacular in the photo, quite honestly. There's nothing special ab...

I believe I have one or two old old 3/16" 6010 or 6012 "braided flux" ASBESTOS electrodes. Anyone want one?

Re: 305 sticks? drying sticks
I am an OLD MAN but new to welding. Learning the hard way. Jody spoke about the virtues of 305 electrodes and I haven't found a supplier as of yet. Does anyone know how I could get them? Also, for how long and at what temp should I bake the old rods due to moisture? Help please. Thanks zach It was ...

Re: Welding 1-1.5" steel
Checking my notes.... and FWIW, I know this is the "Mig/flux core" forum, but I've only welded thick steels (>1") under the following procedures: I used 5/32" Excaliber 7018-1 at about 200 amps when I welded 1.5" AR400 and it was too small of an electrode for the project, bu...

Re: Acetylene regulator help. Male or female???
Okay, the general consensus is that acetylene tanks generally or should I say "predominantly" are female threaded. Th k you all for the "411." Now I know and I know which victor set I will order. A "male" threaded regulator.

Re: Acetylene regulator help. Male or female???
Female threads are more common, BUT the connector on the regulator is threaded, and removeable. You can change from one to the other for about $10 Steve S Okay, "female thread are more common" on the a acetylene bottle you're saying?? So I should get the male threaded regulator, correct? ...

Well, that's nice for you, but mine doesn't. I must choose one or the other.WerkSpace wrote:Mine came with an adapter, so I can use either type of cylinder.

Acetylene regulator help. Male or female???
Hi all. I plan on ordering a Victor "Journeyman" oxy/ace torch set. I don't have my oxygen or acetylene tanks yet, that will come shortly. My question is about the acetylene tanks that are being used. I don't know which regulator connection to order. What is the most common acetylene inlet...

Yeah I agree, a "buck twenty five" is too hot. Back off the amps a bit.
