Do you think there will ever be an end to the Helium shortage? We are talking about an aliment the universally in high abundance throughout the cosmos.

Re: another easy video
You are most welcome, it was the first time I used my gas forge. I could have finished it a little quicker but blacksmithing is something I'm just starting to do. I've got a new anvil coming in soon as the one I have is just too small to do anything with; which is why I was using a piece of rail to ...

Re: How to make a motorcycle xmas tree ornament
Thanks ... I agree it is fun to watch others have fun. Working with steel is something I really enjoy ... maybe it's because it gives me an opportunity to get creative with something I used to get in trouble for playing with when I was a kid ...lol.

It's propane ... should arrive by the 8th … never used a forge before so it will be a learning experience. I never welded before buying my first stick welder … never had any lessons but now I can do stick, mig and tig … steel to aluminum so I am capable of learning by trial and error … I was just so...

Re: Disappointing online welder purchase
I'm sure glad that it didn't begin with an E. I bought a 200DX tig unit from that company through the SF area distributor ... they have been great and so far the machine is awesome. No problem with the cc card and the service too was outstanding. I had looked at the Longevity and a couple ...

Re: How to make a motorcycle xmas tree ornament
The 22 ga shapes pretty easy so long as you have it secured well in a vise and have two good pairs of needle nose pliers ... I use 1/8" cold rolled round stock for the stem peen one end and tapper the other to make it easy to get through the sheet metal ... my welding table has a hole drilled s...

Re: How to make a motorcycle xmas tree ornament
Steve, I use 22 ga. it seems to work the best ... if you go 28 ga. it will form easier but will get bend out of shape to easy also I like the 22ga. because it is much more forgiving if you lag a little to long ... not as likely to melt away ... but then, you are probably a much better welder than I ...

Generally if there is a contaminated argon tank it will be contaminated with moisture … this will cause a beard on your arc … easy to identify … I think Steve (Otto Nobedder) has a good point … make sure you don’t have an argon obstruction … another sign of insufficient shielding gas flow is porosit...

OK! I've been using my 200DX for a couple weeks now ... I decided to muddle through with 2T until I got things looking good ... then go to the pedal ... well today I used the pedal for the first time on aluminum 1/8" flat stock, set the top amperes at 115, balance at 40%, freq @ 110, used 3/32 ...

NICE! Keep us apprised. BTW, a typical Miller or Lincoln spark-gap for HF is closer to .010 to .015" Check your manual... It should be in there somewhere. Steve Thanks Steve ... good to know ... unfortunately the manual that came with it is kind of sparse ... and you can tell the writers first...

Just spent 45 minutes laying beads with my new machine ... this thing is awesome ... set it DCEN on some 1/8" mild steel w/ 3/32" lanthanated tungsten ... gas flow @ about 18 to 20L found out that was too high ... power worked best around 90 amps ... had a little trouble initiating an arc ...
