i agree with admin. you should think about your tungsten electrode. i think you should try out the .040 mm red point for low amperage. and you should be fine, do 100%argon too.
best of luck you´ll get there. i love body work too.

Re: stick welding vertical using 3/32 308 rods
I THINK I SHOULD TRY IT MYSELF, AND SORRY FOR PUTTING ACEP SORRY ITS AC ONLY
BUT REMEBER THAT AC HALF THE TIME OF THE 60 HZ ITS OFF, HENCE A COLDER WELD. AND WHAT ABOUT PENETRATION DO YOU SPECIALLY NEED IT OR NOT, CORRECT PARAMETER ITS BETWEEN 60 AND 90 AMPS. FOR 3/32 308 STAINLESS.

Re: New helium tank pressure too high?
NO SIR NO DIFFERENCE, ONLY THAT YOUR FLOWMETER HAS TO ALLOW AT LEAST 4000 PSI INLET. AND THE FLOWMETER TOWER HAS TO BE SET TO HELIUM FOR AT LEAST 140 SCFH THE BOTH USE CGA-580 CONECTION INLET. WHAT COULD HAPPEN IS THAT YOUR OLD FLOWMETER WAS STORED FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND THE DIAPRAGM WAS RUSTED OR ...

Re: What rod thickness to use?
6011 OR 6010 HAS A VERY HIGH PENETRATION RATIO.
AND 3/32 SHOULD DO FINE JUST MINGLE WITH AMPERAGE WITHOUT OVERHEATING AS IT WILL CAUSE YOUR ROD TO PERFORATE AND YOUR ADVANCE SPEED SHOULD BE A TAD FASTER USING MORE AMPERAGE.

Re: 7018 6G Hot/cap passs
WHAT IS THE THICKNESS OF THE PIPE USUALLY FOR JOINING THAT 3/32 GAP YOU SHOULD TRY A HIGH PENETRATION ROD. LIKE 6010 OR SIMILAR. FOR YOUR HOT PASS TRY LINCOLN 7010 YOU SHOULD SEE THE DIFFERENCE RIGHT AWAY. AND THE LAST PASS YOU SHOULD DO A LINCOLN 7018 TRY THIS AND COMENT ON IT YOU SHOULD BE FINE. B...

YOU SHOULD DO ACEP, AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE.
ALSO IF YOU CAN CONSTANT CURRENT EP. WILL BE BETTER.
ALSO MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY ABOUT 90 AMPS
TELL ME IF IT WORK

Re: Looking into getting a welder.
IT LOOKS GOOD FOR A FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE, TRY PLAYING WITH THE WIRE SPEED A LITTLE, UP OR DOWN. ALSO TRY TO WELD ON A FLAT POSITION IT WILL BE A BETTER LOOKING WELD. AND WHEN YOU DO THIS TRY SOMETHING LIKE A ZIG-ZAG ABOUT 1/4 IN. APART, AND STAY TWICE AS LONG ON THE BOTTOM PUT IT THIS WAY IN FLAT O...

GAS FLOW RESTRICTOR IN CO2 LINE
WE NEED SOMO HELP FROM ALL OF YOU FOLKS, HERE IS THE DEAL, WE ARE TRING TO RESTRICT PEAK FLOWS FROM A LINE THAT RUNS FROM FLOWMETER TO WIRE FEEDER ABOUT 30 TO 50 FEET LONG, ADD ANOTHER 25 FEET OF TORCH AND VOILA WE NEED TO CUT ON GAS CONSUMPTION, WE ARE THINKING GAS FLOW RESTRICTOR BEFORE SOLENOID V...
