Most robots or at least a medium percentage need a tender. Assembly line robots maybe not but I know of 4 Amish robotic welding shops in my area. Lol I can see all the wtfs and rolling eyeballs no . It's a pain in the ballzack to compete with on certain things but I continue to make my mark competin...

Re: Mobile welding setup
The comparable machine to the Miller 350P is the Lincoln 350MP. I have one with a python push pull gun. It's a sweetheart machine. Worth every penny. Jody has done several videos with it.

Talk to a lincoln dealer to make sure you get the exact parts you need but yes it can because I have seen it.

Re: Mobile welding setup
You can get a push pull gun to work on the LN25. My trailblazer is the only miller machine I've ever been able to get along with. But trust me that LN25 will be a huge plus for you verses dragging a shop style welder around. Drag your leads in to where you need, carry in the LN25 and hammer down. Th...

Re: Mobile welding setup
I'd scrap the idea of dragging around a shop welder and get a good engine drive like a miller bobcat or trailblazer or a lincoln ranger. These will be the most economical. Then if you want miggability get an LN25 from lincoln. As far as welding aluminum you can get a module and spool gun that will d...

Re: Any good brands for grinding discs?
I too buy what the LWS has. I also will watch for deals on brand names like Dewalt at tractor supply and rural king. Sometimes you find really good deals on old stock cutting wheels etc... for real cheap in their bargain bins. One brand I really like that is mostly available only through the Interne...

Jon my thought was that there is so much prep and thinking that goes into some of our jobs as welders that it may be good to share trade tricks related to fab and prep too. Honestly I think it's quite rare to be the guy that gets most of his work already prepped and you just have to sit down and bur...

Tips on sanitary or food grade stainless. Tips on coping pipe or channel or I beams. Just thinking of a few thing I had to learn myself on the fly. Lots of welders out there do repair work like I do including quite a few of the part timers and hobbyists. You and I know a few Jonathan. Maybe how to a...

Re: Two grounds on the same work piece.
A couple little tidbits on this one.... 1. Electricity always seeks it's source. It needs to complete it's circuit otherwise it's only potential not current. 2. With welding you are simply completing an electrical circuit. A simple circuit goes from its source through its resistance and back to its ...

If you didn't have to provide a quote ahead of time you have to charge time and materials. Don't over think it. If they don't like the bill tuff noogies. You have to make sure your expenses and your time are covered and I always try to make 25% on materials. Sometimes I throw some customers a bone o...

Re: Gas Cylinder Ownership
You still own it. But you may never see that tank again. You technically own the rights to that bottle so when you exchange tanks you only pay for the refill. Some of the bigger supply chains have even stopped selling bottles so you have to lease a bottle. Which in the long run is going to be more m...

You will have to come with a specific model you are looking at. I've heard of some that will get to 10, 15 ,20k on the hour meter and I've heard of some that have a problem making it to 200.

Re: Lincoln Power Mig 350 to tig
I have one and its a gem. Don't know what took me so long to get one. I haven't tigged much with it yet but it's all in the settings. It is a lift arc machine not scratch start. Which means you have to touch the base metal to initiate the arc. I can say it's taken some getting used to to figure out ...

Re: SA 200 windings
You have to be burning pretty hot all day to see that drop off. Like welding bridge beams with 3/16 rod. These machines are built with 400 amp stators and armatures. They used to break them in at the factory by hooking the ends of 4/0 leads together for a while. At least that's the story I was told ...

Re: SA 200 windings
Look at the stator right behind the engine where it is mounted to the frame. If it is shaped like a stop sign (octagonal) then it is wound with copper clad aluminum. If it is round then it is all copper. Red face plate or black face plate also will give a good indication but it is not definite. Also...

Re: What engine driven welder should I buy?
The best ones are a miller trailblazer 301g or 302g or a lincoln ranger 250gxt. These provide the best bang for your dollar and are multiprocess machines and have 10k watts generating power too. If you want to get more complicated than that you can get into some pricy machines. I don't know what you...

I know exactly the corner too. I've delivered pizza around here off and on for 15 years. I know every little back road there is. There is only one such corner where a work horse would be so close to the road. Only in Amish country do we know farms and people by 5 their horses.

Welcome to the WT&T forum. You don't need anything here in Ohio. But I have no clue about New York. I would call the BMV. You may need a DOT number. I would carry enough insurance on your truck to cover your tools too. A business license and liability insurance would round out pretty solid cover...

I have a Samson which is the plasmacams big brother and I really like it. It is very easy to use which makes the time I spend drawing stuff on it minimal. Accuracy is good but only as good as the cutter you use, the quality of your gas and how fresh you keep the consumables. I like it because I use ...

Re: Best plate rolls
Well JMT certainly does their share of marketing and they seem to have a pretty nice machine. At the specs your looking for, unless you find one from WW1 that needs all new bearings, plan on spending $25k up to $100k for the real fancy CNC ones. But most plate rollers will be quite comparable unless...
