Re: Manganese info
My bad. I meant ss to weld it to steel. I haven't found anything to weld manganese to aluminum. Still hoping someone can let me know some good info about aluminum and manganese. I think I'm out of luck with using aluminum. The guys that weld manganese to digging buckets stated ss but I didn't see a ...

A fire department would like me to weld two manganese hooks on the ends of an aluminum rod. Is it possible to tig weld those metals together? If so what filler rod would need to be used? Also these are cast pieces. Thanks for any info!

I build anything really. Whatever someone needs. I just received the metal this week to build a garage door cutting simulator for my volunteer fire department. But my favorite is custom fire pits. Don't know if the pic will show up.

Re: Spray painting info needed
Thank you all very much! I need the spray gun to paint my welding projects. Gotta make them look sweet! Looks like I'll be getting a gravity hvlp spray gun. I have a large compressor so I'll be good there. Thanks again!

Looking to buy a spray paint gun. I see Ingersoll Rand has models with the paint holder mounted on the bottom or on top of the gun. Is one better or has more advantages over the other? All help appreciated!

Looking to see if any weld mongers have experience with Alumasteel tig rods. Do they make strong welds? Could not find a video of Jodi trying them out.

Re: One weld bad one good. Need help!
The bottom pic on the very first post is what happens when you light up on it. The Arc is noisey, different then frequency noise and as you hold it in place waiting for a shiny puddle to form, Bam, the metal warps through. I think oscar is right my machine is having a problem switching to ac. The DC...

Re: One weld bad one good. Need help!
Oscar, I'm welding 1/8 wall tubing. I've tried 130, 160 and 200 amps but can't get the shiny puddle to start in the inside corner joint. Even at 200 amps the metal just heats up and melts without ever creating a shiny puddle or any puddle. I usually point the tungsten right at the crease where the t...

Re: One weld bad one good. Need help!
I cut 2 exact size pieces of another stick of aluminum and they welded clean. The only difference between the metal is the one having the issue was ground shiny months ago and sat in my shop but was reground today. If the aluminum got contaminated how do you get clean besides grinding it? Just doesn...

I'm trying to make an aluminum beach cart for my brothers birthday. I can't get the metal for the cart to puddle, the metal just ends up warping. But if I light up on different aluminum I get a nice puddle and bead for my experience level. Do you all think I got some unweldable aluminum delivered in...

Everlast I-Mig 250! Mine runs great! Spool gun runs great! Great price! Buying an Everlast you can probably afford more machine. Jody's tests with the Everlast welders have been very good.

Quick question! Can you weld outside with regular mig wire and gas or is it to risky and only flux wire for outside?

The customer brought material except I had to buy 10 washers because he didn't bring enough but that cost nothing really. I used a little argon and stainless rods but I figured if I was charging 60 an hour that would cover that minor stuff.

I put a gas lens kit on my wp18 torch and just looking for a little help. Don't mind the tungsten it's just sitting in torch. I'm wondering if I should have a rear white insulator also or not? Len,
I have changed cylinders. I'm going to try your puddle tests Wednesday. I'll check for leaks first even in my torch line. Thank you for your time!

Quick tip needed
Need a quick tip on welding this up. I have steel and 309ss rods? Any ballpark machine settings would be appreciated. I know to apply the heat mostly to the thick piece and to wear my respirator when grinding and welding due to the galvanized metal.

Re: Tungsten Mystery
I'm using a gas lens and I checked to make sure the collet inside is the right size. The slots in the collet are there to let the collet squeeze down and hold the tungsten correct? The gas comes into the torch, flows around the collet and out the gas lens it seems. What would moisture in the gas do?...

Re: Welding aluminium tube to plate - tips?
Your welcome! Trying to do long welds on aluminum are tough until you get experience moving while adjusting your amps with a foot pedal at the same time. Remember to set your torch hand up and do some dry runs to set how far you can weld without having to adjust your hand on whatever your propping i...
