Re: Plz Help..SS welds half grey!
Yes sir.....and although it was a simple fix, I really did change quite a few things along the way. Torch angle, not pulling the filler out of the gas shield area...etc etc. so ya, HELL YA..I got it.pro mod steve wrote:No better feeling than a hell yeah i got it.

Re: Plz Help..SS welds half grey!
I'm using a gas lens at around 18-20 cfh with the pedal pressed. Red tungsten
3/32. #8 cup 3/32 309Lss filler. I ordered some 1/16 filler BC I'm thinking that
3/32 is a little large for 1/16" SS SHEETMETAL. whitch I think is 304. I will try to turn the
Gas down a little and see.

Plz Help..SS welds half grey!
]I recently took the advice of a few of you on this site and made some adjustments. Gas lens, bigger cup, lower heat. OK..why are half the welds still grey? Look like my torch angle maybe? Any help would be great. Thanks

Welding SS to steel?
I have a little project on my hands where I need to weld a SS bung for a back pressure sensor to a down pipe. The pipe looks to be plain steel or a low quality SS. it has traces of surface rust so I'm not sure. So is this the case where I would use a 3xxL filler rod?
