i am a union pipewelder. the coupons come beveled already. you do need to set up your own purge. thats very critical! on the 41 i used a 3/32 gap with 3/32 wire for the root, at about 70 amps. i switched to 1/8 wire for hot pass and kept out of the middle!move quickly from edge to edge & be sure...

another big cause of porosity is cold starts! what i mean is striking an arc and moving forward too quickly. when u strike,you need to wait a second for arc to stabilize,then move your rod in a circular motion in place a couple times and then progress. this should prevent any chance of creating poro...

oh by the way, the ua 21 test is on sched 120,not 40!

Previously TiG welder on AL and some Carbon Steel. Moved to a new location and doing stick cert before I can do TiG cert.
