Re: Tig Welding 1/8"ss rods with Thermal Arc 95s

You might try even a smaller tungsten like 1/16" &15 to 20 amps. You didn't say if you were using a foot peddal control ? Some times on very light material I use a heat sink, like A piece of copper 1/4" flat stock, It will soak up some of the heat & give support to the material your'...

Re: filling holes on aluminum

Re: filling holes on aluminum

Filling holes is a real challenge some times. Try beveling the hole as deep as possible,I know you have to deal with water jackets, and all other restritions. I have to deal with this situation from time to time. I have thought about this fix. If you have room around the hole.Drill the hole bigger ,...

Re: Acetone, Alcohol, Thinner.

We all know aluminum has to be clean as possible to weld.I have found if the aluminum is heavly oxydized to use Air Arc Aluminum cleaner and a s.s. brush. If you're preassembling, wash the parts in a solution of cleaner, use a scotch brite to scrub the parts, just like you were washing a pot, rinse &am...

Re: I cant belive thats from a fabricator

Also depends on how the dye was applied. If the dye was applied real heavy, maybe it was too much left on the test area. If you follow the inst. on the can . wait for the red dye to soak into all voids, usually 10 to 20 min., then I take a clean rag & spray with brake cleaner & wipe the red dye...
