for the work we do I really like them. almost all people do NOT like large torches. its a preference thing. ive never seen a 24 yet. interesting!

Re: dynasty 350
what size torch are you running? since we run high amps where i work, we use the super cool 18. the water actually cools around the torch head. its different then a regular 18. looks similar in size but uses short collet body. the super cool 18 uses a gas lens cup even if your not using a gas lens. ...

no helium available in my area!
as much as i hate the idea, i cant get any helium. they claim there is a helium shortage. the only time they can get it, is for the places they had contracted before this. so here is my question. they sell argon/hydrogen, could this be used on aluminum?? i know it traditionally been used for tig wel...

Re: dynasty 350
wow only a number 4 cup? have you tried a larger one? i have always liked large tig cups. like a 7 or 8. when you say square wave, do u mean advanced or soft? your machine set up is alot like i use. 2:1 for amps, i like 65-70 on balance. i realy like 150 on frequency. sometimes i do go to 200 or 250...

Re: dynasty 350
i use a miller dynasty every day where i work. pretty much the same machine as the 350 just has more power. we use soft square wave. we tried advanced square wave and did not like it! i don't know why anyone would want to use sign wave, that is like a old school transformer machine. if i am wrong so...

Re: dynstay 350 not striking a arc
make sure you not on lift arc, u want hi frequency start! u probably checked this but thought i would throw that out there. other wise if you were on hi freq start, try lift arc and see if it works correctly. maybe you could use it this way until it gets fixed if there is a problem.

Re: Aluminum Filler Rod Uses???
there are many aluminum rods out there! i use 5356, 4047, 4043, 4145, 4008. if you weld cast aluminum 4008 is for A356. 4145 is for 319, and 355. i never used it, but 4009 is for A357. if you dont know the alloy 4043 is a good bet. it covers most alloys. 4047 is acceptable where 4043 is ok. 4047 has...

Re: New Welder to Aluminum !!!
sometimes too much arc gap can do this too. keep a good tight arc, about the thickness of the electrode. too small of a rod for the amps will do this also.

Re: Dynasty vs Syncrowave which to buy?
i weld with a dynasty 700 everyday. a few years back we had syncrowave 500s. i have welded with both type machines and familiar with the the features both have. i weld mostly aluminum, with some alumabronze, bronze and brass. my first question is this... what material do you weld most times? if you ...

so if all this is true, why do they recomend dcep on the rod box? wouldnt dcen keep the heat in the work instead of the welding rod? dcen is reverse polarity correct?

i know exactly what your are talking about. i weld brass where i work frequently. there are many alloys of brass. it usually smokes too! don't breathe too much of that in, its bad for you! what i think you need to do is get some aluminum bronze rods. the trick is to use enough heat to melt the rod b...

at work i use a miller dynasty 700. we use a super cool 18 torch with a #8 torch cup. i find i need at leaste 35 cu ft per hr gas flow. does this sound like alot?? does a larger torch make a differnce on gas flow? most people dont use that large of a torch. we need the high amp rating. when i try to...

exactly! some of the things i repair are boat props, motor cycle jugs, and side covers. i really would like to be able to get into larger things like car cylinder heads. i am sure the 200dx can do the things i listed, just am not sure about larger things like cyl heads. i think if it could, it would...

miller 200dx questions
i am interested in the Miller 200dx machine. i am familiar with the dynasty machines because i use a dynasty 700 where i work. i want to get a 200dx for at home in my shop. i mosty will be doing aluminum repair/build up work. any fab work, aluminum and steel, will be 1/4" or less, wich the mach...

ive done boat props with 4043 and 4145. 4145 seems to be good when you find porosity, it melts at a lower temp
