chrome moly tubing welded to mild steel
My son and I are building our own suspension parts for a Pantera using Corvette uprights. We built our own tubing bender and made the upper and lower "A" arms out of 4130 tubing welded to some mild steel components (the ball joint mounting at the end, some gussets, the coil over shock moun...

Re: New helium tank pressure too high?
go for a new regulator man, chema has a way better grasp on the internals of the reg but i took the ones off my torches in to have them rebuilt when they finally started leaking (inherited victor's of my dads with alot of miles on 'em) and it was almost as much to rebuild them as it was to just buy...

New helium tank pressure too high?
I finally got my new tank of Helium and "T"d it to my Argon. I had an old Victor flow regulator that I had used before with Argon with no problems. After hooking it up to the Helium tank, I turned on the tank valve and the safety valve blew off. I removed the valve and checked for blown &q...

Re: Problems welding 1/4 in. aluminum
Forget the pulser, that won't help you here. Set your machine to balanced AC, running 180-200 amps. Use a 1/8 2% thoriated or lanthanated tungsten. You said you ordered some, so use it. Grey tungsten is manufacturer specified alloys, so it isn't guaranteed to be great for aluminum. Put a #10 cup on...

Re: Problems welding 1/4 in. aluminum
Can I practice this before I get the argon/helium gas, or am I just wasting my time?

Problems welding 1/4 in. aluminum
I am having a terrible time trying to use my new HTP invertig 201 with 1/4 in. aluminum. I need to weld two plates at an included angle of approximately 80 degrees. I first ground the two plates as shown in "A" and welded the top without pulse or filler rod. I used 3/32 gold tungsten groun...
