Thanks guys. That's where I started; my LWS. 30 lbs was the smallest qty they'd sell. It was that or a 10 lb spool that I'd have to cut and straighten. Thanks for the link to Arc-Zone LtBadd. I'll order from them. I just Googled it up on Amazon, you can buy a pound for about $13.25, several sizes a...
While I'm waiting for my profile to be approved on Everlast's forums, I figured I'd pose the question here as well. I have an Everlast 160sth and an SSC controls foot pedal. When the foot pedal is plugged in, although I'm able to set the amperage on the machine, the readout simply oscillates back a...
I had the same experience with the 1 x 42 Kalamazoo. I read all the user reviews, mostly ⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎⭐︎. What a piece of junk! I had just spent $290 on a brand new Kalamazoo 1x42 belt sander...what an utterly useless pile of junk it is, hence I jumped on this Porter Cable. Oh that giant motor...its only...
EINSTEIN? Did I dial the wrong number here? I had no doubt some of you were familiar, but we have some newer entrants to machining with new (or new-to-you) equipment looking for projects and knowledge, so I had to share this guy. Also, horology interests me. Steve S does that include "space tim...
No lock on switches on a small grinder is a terrible idea. Ever try clean a heap of small parts while holding the switch. Good subject. I agree with you Mike. I have nine electric angle grinders and a drawer full of air powered. I still have the first one that I bought used in 1958. It's 9 inch Bla...
Since this piece is riveted, it may be 7075 aluminum (or something similar).
It's used in airplane wings for example and riveted together.
You can weld it but it will crack, often immediately.
Is this piece welded anywhere or only riveted?
If there is a weld then you may be OK.

hi first i am total new to tig and have just got my Kemppi MasterTig MLS 2300 AC/DC. the queastion is, on this machine the torches is connected to it own connector with gas and then there is two dinse35 connector, one plus and the other is minus.. so i connected the ground clamp to plus and tryed b...
This too late but same symptom on my 250 EX(2013) on AC, worked DC and AC lift arc. Readjusted my points then worked fine. Fingers crossed. It was HF that was not working for arc start(stabilization). Rick, My machine would not weld in any position, tried all tig settings and stick, no sparks, And ...
_D3M0562_2.jpeg Hi guys, My Everlast 250 EX died a quick death today. It's a 2011 model, Everlast water cooler, CKW torch, and the upgraded foot pedal. It's been working fine, last week I built a coupon test bender from 1 1/2" SS just like Jody did. I fired it up today, tapped the pedal to che...
I'm still not sure what type of aluminium this is, but even my rubbish welds make quite a strong joint. I set about bashing the hell out of them with a hammer in my vice and the joints don't give up, the parent metal eventually does. Mind you, I have no idea about the deeper aspects of metallurgy s...
The Lincoln Electric Welding School is using the 180 grit blue diamond wheel, they have over 5,000 grinds on it. So while not as smooth looking as the 320 grit yellow diamond wheel I'm sure its fine. The Tungsten ground on the stone wheel looks the smoothest yet its a courser grit. But it looks les...
Thanks for your concern guys. They have me marked as a new guy here but I've been signed up to this Forum since 2009. I have watched every Jody video from before that. He's my hero. That is about the time I bought my Everlast 250 EX. I went through about 4 machines over nearly two years to get this ...
Whats the worst injury (Burns, gashes, etc) you have ever got on the job ? Grinders are the most dangerous thing in our shops. They mostly get to your eyes, and hands. I've been welding since 1954 and they still get me once in while. I mostly work by myself and make my own rules. My rules for grindin...
Just a personal experience. I tried to buy a 12" square from the Weld Monger website but the item was sold out. So, I ordered it from the Lagesse website. It has been over a month. Nothing has shown up at my house yet and no response from Lagesse when I emailed them. I will update this post as...

Five stars ★★★★★ Alexa. Thanks I saved that: "Assuming that these welds are to be partial penetrated, you may consider: - set all your supports upon which you will be working to be within the same plane to insure flatness. - make note of the different lengths of the pieces to be welded and comp...
You can't weld it if you can't see it. The first thing to check is the plastic cover in front of your helmet lens. It needs frequent attention and often replacement. And then, after the age of 40 or so, you may need some magnification. Drug store glasses work for me. I tried a cheater inside my helm...
Down hill is the answer, 3/16" and under. Go to Jody's "WELDING PROJECTS' / part 2 plasma cutting table welding project. He is doing a very similar weld and will even give you the settings. I think he was using.030 solid wire but .035 won't be far off if that's what you are using, and thos...
HI. I've made a couple of those, wood and metal, depending on what material is available. I've been admiring the Harbor Freight unit. http://www.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/shop-cranes/1-ton-telescoping-gantry-crane-41188.html It would put my Trailblazer in and out my truck, and I could ...
_D3F4743.jpg Here's another Jeep Bumper on a 2009 Wrangler Sahara. This one is intended for a tow bar connection. The bumper is 3/16 x 2"x5" tubbing. The tow lugs go all the way through, welded front and back, 1/2" x 3" bar. It replaces the plastic and sheet metal original. I us...
