Re: 9 17 26 etc number meaning.

The key to learning English is to ignore the rules and focus on the exceptions.

While no one’s welding knowledge has been augmented by this thread, it’s still good stuffs.

Re: 9 17 26 etc number meaning.

Q (of Qanon fame) has been hiding cryptic messages in the naming structure of TIG torch lines. All will become clear when Q drops the anon and rises to power, and the codes will become instructions and make perfect sense. My CK 17 air-cooled 3 series torch told me just the other day that I should ge...

Re: Flashed—with my helmet on

Not sure what brand of helmet—it’s about 2 tiers up from the Home Depot kind. It works well enough. I am almost certain it darkened though, both times. I saw the arc light up and the bright light popped on about a half second later. Seemed to come from the point where the arc met the material. Conta...

Flashed—with my helmet on

First off I’ll go ahead and say that my helmet was functioning properly when this happened, in the interest of saving time. Ok I was Tig welding carbon steel, max pedal was prob. 100 amps but this happened in light-up, so maybe 25? I was welding this cheapo bandsaw attachment plate to a 1/8 piece of...

Re: new to tig stainless

I’m fairly new as well, and I’m trying to learn not to prop with my wrist stationary (easier but limits range and can curve off at the end) but set up so that I can slide along parallel to the weld. It’s not easy... Best advice I’ve gotten is to have a bunch of drops available to prop/slide on. I ha...

Re: CK flex head feedback from long term users?

Thanks everyone for your feedback, I was leaning towards a flex head anyway and this seals the deal. I have played with one at a welding supply place but it’s been a while, and I’ve yet to weld with one. I was a photographer for 25 years before my current direction (small custom cabinet/furniture op...

CK flex head feedback from long term users?

Hi, I’m planning on getting a CK #20 torch and I’m trying to decide whether or not to get a flex head or rigid. I am not looking for the overall merits of each option; I am fine with rigid but I think a flex head may be a handy enhancement. What I am asking is if, and how, they change over time. My ...
