Nevermind, I got some ER70S-6 and was able to weld it and to get it to work. To clarify, this was only done because we needed a long threaded component to jack something into place and this is what was on hand. Welding Nuts onto threaded rod

I have to weld some Grade 8 nuts to SA 193 B7 threaded rod. Only available for filler at the moment is 308L. Would it be better just fusion weld it without filler or use 308L.
Not structural just holding nuts on the rod.

Just joined from NJ

Joined up.. Have been listening to the podcast. Really determined to learn welding, specifically tig and mig Have been practicing at home but results are not there yet. Have been involved with welding for a long time from the side and have pretty good knowledge of ASME Section III and metallurgy.
