Hell if your doin open root.... with 3/32 wire you said I think? I’d run 1/8” gap.

That’s a good welder! Honestly man the best thing would to watch someone run a bead. If you know anyone who welds. Tell them to let you watch them run one. To be honest man... unless your going to be welding on test material or or a joint that is going to be inspected. That 7018 rod will burn just fine man. Circular saw will work... make sure to wear a long sleeve an face shield. Hurts when them metal flakes hit you lol.

Yessir you did. Check an make sure your leads are good an ground. Also 185 amps is way to much heat for a 3/32 tungsten brother. I’d go up a size or two. Not sure if that was the cause or not. Also what size is your torch? That could be a factor as well.
