Re: Anyone know the schedule of Lincoln sales?
Have you thought to ask your LWS where they sell Lincoln? Seems they had a sale around Xmas and into the New Year, not this past holiday season but the 2018/2019 season, on the SW 200. Yes i asked two LWS, they did not know when, although they mentioned they ran these sales and rebates in the past....

Anyone know the schedule of Lincoln sales?
I distinctly remember over the past few years seeing regular (yearly?) sales at my LWS, for example a Lincoln 210 MP listed for $1400, would be about $1,000. I was not in the market then, but am now interested in buying a 210 MP. Does anyone know when are these sales? 4th of July? Labor Day? I reali...

I have a 4” Jet bandsaw and it’s not very good. Hard to square; make that “impossible.” I use it in a vertical position with a table i made but even that is so so. Briefly, I am very disappointed. Anyone tried a sawzall? What blade for 1-½” tubing with 1/16” wall thickness? Probably easy tl make a j...

Engine welder as house backup generator
As I am watching the news about the power outages in California, I am interested in setting up a backup generator for my house. We don't have natural gas at the property so propane or gasoline/diesel. Now the exciting question is to get an engine welder that can be used as a generator in an emergenc...

Re: Sharpie DX grinder for tungsten
I have one, and will not sell it. I am a hobbyist, yet it is well worth the investment, because it produces very reproducible tips. It also cuts nicely --- breaking the tungsten sounds primitive (just cut it with a 4-1/2" angle grinder and cutting disc, while avoiding contamination). However, i...

So it sounds like a negligently put together piece of trash. Hard pass every time.
You get what you pay for, and the lower tier of TIG welders, tempting as they might be, are best ignored, IMO.

Sorry to say but yours is the textbook case of why one should avoid cheap products of any kind. What’s the saying? Buy once, cry once? I am not rich enough to buy cheap stuff? A quality torch, pedal, and regulator already get you to $400. Then a newer generation helmet, jacket and quality TIG gloves...

Re: Which ac/dc machine to get
I do second the HTP Invertig 221 suggestion. High-quality machine, with an excellent CK torch, a quality pedal, and you can easily add a water cooler to it, which is what I did. If I remember correctly, you can also do stick, although I am not currently interested in that feature. Goes down as low a...

Re: Has Colorado Lost their Minds
I don't know of any field including brain surgery that requires 7000 hours of training. Medicine training is A LOT longer. After the MD one does a minimum of 3 years of residency; specialists usually train for 6. Duty hours were limited DOWN to 80hrs per week in the early 2000s (IIRC) and now I thi...

Love it. I have one of these Knipex wrenches ( and its bigger brother) and i am surprised by how often i use it. IIRC it goes up to 3/4” or 19mm.

Re: the anatomy of a used 3M 2297 pancake respirator filter
Guys and gals, please use your respirators. How long have you used them and for what kind of jobs. For woodworking, small particles stay aloft in the air for a long time, and there is a strong justification for a mask. I don’t see how metal particles will be floating in the air long. Just trying to...

Re: Aluminum set up
I think FUPA cups are not recommended for AC because they can short out. Also there is an amp limit of around 150-175 IIRC for DC.
