Re: I want to experiment with a stick electrode in my TIG to

Also, the only arguable reason to ever do this would be to use pulse or vary the amperage. If you were looking for a constant current, you would use "Stick" mode on the machine, and providing current to the rod via an electrode holder or TIG torch accomplishes the same result (at the arc)....

Re: I want to experiment with a stick electrode in my TIG to

I know, why don't you switch the dynasty to smaw mode and use the stick stinger it came with? Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk It doesn't come with an electrode holder, but I bought a real nice 300A one that is almost ready to be replaced (only because I ran the electrodes down too far). It...

I want to experiment with a stick electrode in my TIG torch

I have only seen this two places on the internet: (1) in a 6061.com YouTube video, which was an E6011 on pulse TIG, and (2) on Jody's website, which was an E7018 where he said to make sure and turn off the HF start (lest the arc would blow through the flux and flash you before you were ready) and ma...

Re: Video request

I would love to see a Tig finger video. I ordered 2 Jumbo's and am having a hard time getting used to them. I see the potential and the way these things slide is amazing. So I request a "Tig finger basic training" video and Tig finger gloves where the last 3 fingers and drag patch are mad...

Re: Working with titanium sheet

I got 25 5" X 5" squares of .071" 6AL-4V sheet for $5 each from Sackin' Metals in Huntington Beach, CA. That wasn't too bad of a price. The quotes that came in from Alibaba were higher than that, and I will be happy to work with domestic material.

Re: Differences in machines and welding ability

I have a Dynasty 210DX, but I have never used the SD card functionality as mentioned here https://www.millerwelds.com/support/system-setup-and-software/tig-software and here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaN-fVqgGL4. It says here https://store.cyberweld.com/midy210mecai.html that the $547 SD card ...

Re: Working with titanium sheet

I'm not sure how difficult it will be to cold work it, but it will be challenging . Welding Ti isn't hard as long as you have the proper gas coverage, if you can't back purge then use chill blocks It says here https://titaniumprocessingcenter.com/guide-to-titanium-grades/alloy-titanium-guide/grade-...

Working with titanium sheet

I have never worked with Ti, but I need to make a bunch of parts with .071"-.078" titanium sheet. I will try to work with Grade 5 6AL-4V first, but if I can't bend and weld it then I suppose I could use Grade 2 CP-2. I bought some on eBay which is coming from China, but I think that I will...

Re: Help me choose a MIG welder

3 prong is for single phases power, 4 prong is required to run 3 phase power. Has nothing to do with inverter or transformer. Your Dynasty is autosensing for the inbound power and will run 120v-480v, single or 3 phase. The MillerMatic is restricted to 240v single phase I believe. That is really hel...

Re: Help me choose a MIG welder

So here is the welder for which I started the thread. I pictured it next to my Dynasty because I love it when things match. I noticed that the Millermatic has a 3-prong 220V plug as opposed to the 4-prong of my Dynasty. Is this because the Millermatic is a transformer based machine as opposed to the...

Re: How are these welds looking [newbie]

Hi, I'm new to welding and trying to something approximating a weld bead on a T-joint. I made some experimental welds and cut and etched them but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. To me it looks like good penetration but what do I know. I'd love some feedback on them. // Einar Skickat från min SM-...

Re: Help me choose a MIG welder

I might have a unique situation because I always work over 60 hours/week, so I won't have much time to make things for other people for 12 more years. When I am not working, my only interest is working in my shop. My shop has always been a two car garage. When I tried to buy the van for the mobile s...

Re: Help me choose a MIG welder

The MillerMatic comes with a free roll of flux-cored wire. I had always planned to buy two Q size cylinders of C25 and use solid ER70S-6 because that is what we always use at the welding shop. With my TIG welding, I bought two Q size cylinders. I use one cylinder until it is empty. Once I start usin...

I still don't understand what the students do in the down time between classes, especially the weekends. I have gone out of state for school many times, but th...

Re: Help me choose a MIG welder

So I finally got a Miller MultiMatic 252. I bought a new one for $2,669. This will be my first quality MIG machine. Re: Considering Hobart Institute Structural Welding Program

So my first planned trip to The Hobart Institute has fallen through because I couldn't find a place to stay. I was only going for 8 weeks, and all of the landlords required a minimum 12 month lease. I considered living in a van, but even my van deal fell through. A motel for 8 weeks would be too exp...

Re: Help me increase my productivity for this part.

If an internal rim had ribs running lengthwise, it would be VERY strong. The pressure from the inner tube against it will limit deformation. The weight bearing on it directly at any point is limited to the weight directly above it. The balance is then distributed. Just an FYI. If the ribs were on a...
