I buy most of the abrasives used in the shop from Benchmark Abrasives. Their stuff is inexpensive and holds up fairly well.

Your helmet setting depends on the amperage of the weld. For most everything we do I leave my helmets on 11 or 12.

Re: Some Security Doors

We use Muriatic Acid to etch & then H2O2 to color. We can get some very cool coloring depending on the ambient humidity, and rain storms.

Some Security Doors

So the last couple of weeks in the shop were filled with some cookie cutter stuff, nothing too exciting. We did do these pretty cool security doors though. We usually put perforated sheet (24 ga. steel screen) on our doors for bug proofing but these folks weren't concerned with that. They have prett...

Re: Vise Grip Crank Handles

you will end up having to weld a nut on the end of the pliers, at least on the clamps, when the threads wear. I have done this to all of my clamps. It makes them much easier to use.

These are 2 of the things that have left the shop this week. A mailbox cage for a very nice older gal whose poor husband suffered a mental episode due to a nasty side-effect of some cancer medication he was taking, and destroyed their old mailbox!....an easy job. This took 5 hours to fab & get r...
