Those pieces are way too small to start learning to weld aluminum, I know I was just there.

Sharp tungsten
I stumbled on a trick the other day for sharpening tungsten. Chuck it up in a cordless drill on low speed and take it to the bench grinder. Perfect grind every time, and no burnt fingertips on the stubby ones. I know I'm not the first person to figure this out.
