Motorcycle mods

Not a whole lot of changes, mostly unnoticeable things. I changed out the tail light so I had to fill where the original one was and build the plate and light holder along with the bracket to hold it to the fender. Made a bracket for the front signals. Shorten the tail pipe and made a bracket to mou...

Before I would use a holesaw I would look into a hole cutter from Blair or a competitor. https://www.blairequipment.com/holcutters

Re: Braze it or silver solder?

Thanks, I do understand about galvanic reaction. I don't have a tig but I have tig welded some but very little. I don't have enough experience with one to be any good at it. I kept contaminating the tungsten.

Re: Garage heater

Nice, what does your insurance people have to say about a wood burner in the garage. The municipality I live in won't allow homemade wood burners in a garage and my insurance won't cover them either. Probably want to regulate that draft also.

Re: My first owl sculpture

Very nice,I like to make things that are already available. Some things I have to make though. I have thought about making a skull and cutting pieces out of car body parts that have the shape I need. Compound curves are hard to make without the right equipment. You did an amazing bit of work on your...

Re: What is causing this to happen?

Very common I've found if you weld it like tracing the petals of a flower and not like a spiral it helps greatly I think by going around the ring and then capping the center it accidentally creates an air pocket that blows out like welding a sealed container Thanks, I never thought about that happe...

Re: What is causing this to happen?

Another outside possibility is that the frame is sealed and you welded up the last possible vent hole. The accumulated gas/heat from welding has to go somewhere- blow out. This is not likely on a truck frame, but, in certain conditions, it is a real possibility. Just something to bear in mind while...

What is causing this to happen?

I was filling some holes in a truck frame build and after I was done welding one of the holes but still had the gun pointing at the weld the weld had a nipple grow on it. I chiseled it off and had a crater underneath of it. Using 75/25 gas ,frame was wire brushed to remove rust. Any Ideas?

Re: Curtains for a Miller workstation

Fantastic job mate! Love it. Did i you cut down full screens to make these? Thank you Darrin, I made the frames from 1" square tube and bought a full size curtain and cut what I needed. To attach them to the frame I folded the edge over so it's two ply and used large head pop rivets. The curta...

Curtains for a Miller workstation

I made some curtains for my workstation, 1" square tube and it is made to disassemble to move or haul around. The frame is 3 pieces and just clamp to the table. The frame is made so the bottom tubes sit flush with the table and the curtains can roll up so if I need to put something long on it a...
