Re: AC to DC Conversion
Walk in the park Go on Miller or HoFartsa site & pull up the diagram & part list for a small machine. See what size resistor they use Get the same resistor & pit it across the cap. Problem solved Insulate the rectifier from the machine, and check the temperature of the aluminum back. It...

Re: car gas tank
Go to a parts store and get some gas hose the size of the neck and a couple hose clamps and splice it back together. All ideas are good, in my moding days I got few of this problems, when it was the filler neck I never send the tank to the soldering guy who did all the soldering for the exhaust man...

Re: Advice on Lincoln HD welder
Let me take a slightly different approach. A man starting out with no experience is about to climb a mountain. Old bud of mine who worked for a manufacturer always said when the salesman finishes telling you how good a machine is scratch your chin and tell him to plug it in and hook it up so you an...

Thanks again for the information and your time, my local welding store offered me a NorStar gas/gasless inverter, he showed me where in the welder I can invert polarity also said I can connect to 120V or 240V the price was $500 I didn't look at it much because I never heard of that brand...........s...

Re: Advice on Lincoln HD welder
Not completely useless. Those things make excellent power supplys for using ss wire to cut foam boards. Lol, good example, for now all I am doing is fence with galvanized square tubes 1/16 thick 1×1 and 1×2, thanks for the information, I will save a bit longer to buy the gas/gasless Lincoln 140 HD ...

Advice on Lincoln HD welder
Hello gang, I found a Lincoln Electric Flux welder pretty close to my budget, but I don't have a clue if it is the proper welder or if it is under power of what I need from the welder. Re: AC to DC Conversion
Is that galvanized steel? If yes keep your head out of the smoke plume, the fumes are toxic. ........the tubes are galvanized, I use a air filter mask............ A filter isn't going to protect your lungs very well from galvanized fumes, a respirator is needed. OR, definitely grind all that galvan...

This weld was with the setting at MAX with .035 Blu3 D3mon wire. Hello gang, a bit out of topic but I have to share, I tried different flux, I was told I was better off with InWeld Fusion .030, but don't know why something was telling me to try the other size and got the Blu3 D3mon .035, found in the wire feed the neutral wheel can be fliped and each side has a d...

Re: AC to DC Conversion
I was thinking an aluminium heat disipator from a desktop CPU with Fan just for the rectifier, the capacitor found one with 50V 50,000 uf, it hasn't arrived yet. i would check the open voltage of the welder, make sure its under 50v in each setting. Thanks for the Tip, will report back the results.....

Re: AC to DC Conversion
You won't be happy. It's still a 90 amp flux welder. You can polish a turd all you want but you still have a turd. You would have been better off buying a better quality machine right from the start. I can't buy a 1,200$ Lincoln Flux Welder, I didn't planned to buy a welder, I found that CE for rid...

Re: AC to DC Conversion
Hate to say it but, your still going to have a popcorn welder after you spend the time and money trying to polish a turd. You'd be better off saving the money and purchasing a higher quality unit. That is the plan but I preffer to practice and test with a cheap welder and get a good welder when I'm...

..........one of the videos on this conversion says "learn from my mistakes" do not use the 100Amp single phase rectifier, it will die in less than a week, use 150Amp 3 Phase rectifier, I used the eb@y link provided by the video Author of the rectifier he bought after the 100Amp rectifier...

Re: AC to DC Conversion
Slightly off topic, but I noticed your location. How is restoration and rebuilding coming along on the island? Reports we get up here are less than accurate. Seem to be many people who are looking for money that probably won't ever go farther than their pocket. I'm thinking you have a totally wrong...
