Re: Backhoe bucket repair
I was welding the reinforcements in while he was still digging. I pinned the bucket down with a mini excavator, bent it back with a big pipe wrench and a 8 foot cheater. That bucket was about 4 years old and a lot of hours on it with no type of hardfacing, just wore paper thin and he hit a rock. Jus...

Backhoe bucket repair
Got a call at work the other day from an operator asking for his frost bucket. There's no frost and now I'm baffled by it, but this guy knows his equipment and has been a dirt worker since Moby dick was a minnow, he says wait till you get here you'll get a laugh. This is what I pull up to...

Re: Difference between the two.
I weld stuff when I see it. You know what I mean? I get an idea, draw it out and make it. I would be fine using a Suitcase. I thought, Miller said it would not work 100% because the Bobcat does not have some arc thing. From Miller. If you are planning on connecting this Feeder or MIG Welder to the ...

Re: Difference between the two.
Fleabay and Craigslist is your best bet to find a used suitcase wire feeder. I see the miller 8vs all the time on eBay reasonably priced and they move quick. They also make a 12vs but obviously more $$. The vs stands for voltage sensing, has it's own contactor, doesn't require the 14pin remote hooku...

Re: AC to DC Conversion
The horrible freight 90 maybe a turd of a welder but that's because it is AC not DC. You can't mig properly with AC, you will get "pop corn" and obnoxious spatter every time. Not to mention your weld will be very inconsistent because of the alternating current. If you don't have much inves...

Re: Carbon arc gouging
Our saying at work when something breaks or is about to "they make new ones everyday" That old bumblebee is just a different color miller dial arc. (Begin rant) The saying "they don't make em like they used to." goes both ways, I'd rather not need a new one because the old stuff ...

Re: Carbon arc gouging
Oddly enough that old dinosaur machine did good with the 5/16 carbons, I tried 3/16 first being mindful that it's a small old machine but the carbon was going too quick with little weld removal. Even running it at 90% I'd give it a break every 10 minutes because she was singing. I realize that it is...

Re: Carbon arc gouging
I bought an old gouge torch off fleabay some months back and today was the first time I've used it. Had to take some thick (1/2") busted up expanded metal off of a trailer to replace with a better platform. Couldn't see doing it with a grinder, especially having more grinding to do afterwards, ...

Re: Arc force? On Tig?!?
I had the same issue when learning to tig, really noticed when I tried aluminum. Arc force also known as "dig" on my machine, can be very useful for stick and mig but it about ruined my day when I was on a project and didn't realize that's where a good majority of my problems came from. Le...

I went to the site and I guess there was a hosting issue? It was only released for iPhone but the site says it will be available for Android as well.

Share my weld app?

I believe this would be a perfect addition to the welding community especially for those of us that dont really use social media like Instagram and Facebook .
