Try Lincoln fleetweld 180. I know it’s a 6011 but it’s designed for low ocv machines.

Noob on tungsten, filler and gas
So I picked up a everlast 161sth for my home repairs and projects. I’ve been able to get by with using the stick side of things until this weekend when I had to do a repair on some thin steel. I ended up brazing it, which will hold without a doubt. I would like get my tig side fired up. I need tungs...

Re: 1/2 inch steel 7018 amperage
Amperage of stick welding is more based on the rod diameter and position then the plate thickness.
I know there are exceptions, but generally is simply rod diameter.

I thought everlast had a option of free shipping of parts for warranty issues as long as the owner does the install.

Re: Thoughts on Everlast Machines??
I have a power arc 161sth. I think they are good entry level machines. Although they do have more higher end machines I have no experience with them. I guess your should think of the down time if it goes down. A new machine can get shipped to your door in less then 5 days in some cases. If you have ...

I know Milwaukee has a proven saw but if your really looking for beveling then these are you best option. Makita and skillsaw br...

Metabo hpt tools
So hitachi is now Metabo hpt. Anybody have some of these or used them. I’ve been looking them as a cheaper alternative to the red and yellow standard. They offer brushless motors and made in Germany.
I’m looking at the sawzall, drill, hex impact, and circular saw. Maybe a grinder.

Re: Sheet metal filler rod
Oscar, I understand joint configuration, mass and all the other factors. Wouldn't the use of pulse also play a factor in the amperage? And the use of a machine (multi voltage) plugged into 120V also make a difference in the process? Can’t speak from experience, but I’ve been told the multi voltage ...

Re: Best way to cut square
I hear the evolution saws have poor build quality. Tough to keep to square and so on.
On the cheap, my next thought is a SKILSAW brand worm drive saw. The Milwaukee and Makita make metal cutting saws that run at 3600ish rpm. The worm drives clock in at 4400.

What material are you cutting? Generally any wood cutting appliance spins way too fast to cut metal.

Not sure if the size of material your cutting, but swag off road make a portaband stand. I don’t think it has the drop style of a cut off saw, it’s just vertical. But cheaper then a new saw.

Yeah the tank will need 10-20 psi min to show up on a regulator high gauge. And less then 5psi will hiss when the tank is opened.

Re: Miller Thunderbolt 225 AC
On the low side you get more OCV. Or open current volts. Higher volts keep the rod from sticking. So my suggestion is run the low side until you need the amps of the high side.

Re: Miller Thunderbolt 225 AC
The output ports go to different windings on the transformer. Basically a higher and low side. You have to use the scale that you are plugged into. There is no real direct position for a specific rod. You have to find a setting that works for the rod your using. Each rod has an amperage it likes and...

Re: 15 amp recepticle on 30 amp circuit
At 12awg you should only be putting 20 amps three that wire. If it’s hooked up to a 30 amp breaker, someone might have slapped that in there because that was what they had on hand. Hence why it is only a 15 amp outlet.

Re: 15 amp recepticle on 30 amp circuit
Can you open the socket and breaker panel to see the size of the wires feeding it. The breaker protects the wires. The outlet protects you from plugging in a device that requires more power then the circuit can safely provide causing a constant breaker tripping. If I remember correctly you’ll need 1...
