Re: What to do with 3”-4” tig filler

I turn up the amps pretty high and put them on copper or alu block and blast them really quick (like Jody’s speed tacking technique) goes pretty easy.

Re: TIG pedal - holding it upright

The skating issue maybe could use some of those elastic bands and wrap around your calf, just a thought. But great idea!

Weldingsupplydotcom has lots of choices. And they are really comparable to my local welding supply in Houston.

Re: Anyone ever burnt up a tig finger?

Just like the title says has anyone ever burnt up one Jody's tig fingers? Was welding a oil cooler today 3/8-3/8ish @ around 325 amps(least what the machine was set at don't think I was full all the time) Anyways I get all done and looked at my tig finger and it had a hole melted into it. Just curi...

Re: Modifications on stick welding machines

Well any stick machine can be a tig machine and any tig machine can be a stick machine. I’ve put the welder in tig mode and used the amp control (foot pedal). You can either put the stick electrode in the tig torch or just use the electrode holder. On YouTube search 6061.com and he uses his welder t...

Re: TIG process for 7075

Nice! Will be interesting to see where this goes and how tight the tolerances are as far as dilution of the filler and required weld consistency goes before un-even alloy composition and cracking becomes an issue again. Would determine if it can be safely used for manual welding or is going to be m...

Re: Help debug first TIG attempt

Looks like you need to bump amps up and tighten up your dabs. Possibly move faster also. Just my opinion.

Also you can search eBay for that too. Lots of drops and stuff on there. I’ve seen pretty much everything you have been asking about in a simple search on there.

Re: Help debug first TIG attempt

I had a problem similar to this. Check for leaks and if there aren’t any get a bottle with argon. I had a contaminated tank. It cleared right up after I did that. Just another thought.
