Does .023 Flux Core Wire Exist
Hi Folks, I recently got some great advice in this forum and switched to .023 MIG wire and my inexpensive Eastwood welding machine has never worked better, and it's several years old. So, I am considering doing some stainless work, but I don't want to invest in another gas bottle dedicated to a stai...

Re: Everlast SUPERULTRA 206SI
"Do you have good (condition) consumables, the correct psi and dry air supply, proper standoff, consistent travel speed and a good ground?" I'm using the consumables that came with it, the manual said 60 psi and that's what I'm using, I'm running the air thru 3 air dryers, it came with a s...

Everlast SUPERULTRA 206SI
I've owned this machine for a few years now and the TIG/Stick work great, but I have struggled with the plasma cutter. It's rated to cut 1/4" plate with ease, but I've had trouble getting a clean cut on 15 gauge sheel metal. With no training, I never know if it's me or the machine. Any thoughts?

Lincoln Electric anti-splatter spray
My first product review. Lincoln Electric anti-splatter spray. It works great and does what it's supposed to do, but the best part, and I mean the really, really best part, now when I weld, it smells like I'm frying catfish. Two thumbs up and 5 stars. [img]

Weld Wire Size
I tend to move too slowly. I only do single pass work. Could switching from .035 to .023 wire help make my welds a better size? Like me, my welds need to lose weight.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Plasma Cutting Torch Upgrade.
Noddybrain,
I have tried to buy a drag tip for this torch and have been told none are available, so I thought I'd upgrade the torch to one that has accessories made for it.
I guess I was thinking, if aftermarket companies aren't making things for this torch, maybe the torch is a cheap model.

Plasma Cutting Torch Upgrade.
Hi Folks,
I want to upgrade my Everlast plasma torch. Everlast tells me they don't make an upgraded torch for it.
What brand name do you suggest i look at for an upgrade?
Thanks,
Scotty Babb

Re: MIG Machine settings
Thanks MFleet,
I will follow your advice. I have never tried preheating. I'll get my electrician to install a dedicated 20A circuit.
I have been trying to keep a short stickout and i think that's been helping. My shop is small, so no need for any extension cord.
THANKS!

MIG Machine settings
Hi Folks, I have my MIG welder dialed in pretty good for 1/8" mild steel, but I'm getting a lot of splatter and winding up with lots of beebees. Can you tell me what's causing it? I've had penetration problems with this machine, so I have the power maxed out and the wire speed at 5. I have trie...

Cheap welder
Hi Folks, I own an Eastwood 135 MIG welder and I have had penetration problems when welding anything over 1/8". I turn the heat up to max and turn up the wire speed to almost max and the wire actually hits the steel and pushes back on my gun violently. I have to turn down the wire speed until i...

No burners, I'm charcoal all the way. In the future i may build a barbecue grill that has a griddle attached and then I'll put on a propane burner, but I'm sure I'll us a store bought burner.

Nonstructural MIG weld
Hi Folks, If a nonstructural MIG outside corner weld, like on a barbecue grill, has a concave shape to it, is that a problem? I want to be able to build these grills without grinding the hell out of the corners. I built this BBQ grill for my mother in law. She loves purple, so it's purple, and the f...

Re: Drill Bits
The sizes have been from 3/16 up to 1/4. I have been chucking deep. I believe the jobber bits I have been using are too long. I have been speed sensitive watching the long chips. I believe if I switch to cobalt, Double ended, high speed steel (HSS), 135 degree, split point, it will work. THANKS!

Cutting with O/A Gas or plasma
Hi Folks,
When cutting with heat from Oxy Acetylene or plasma, why do some of the cuts melt back together? I'm sure it's a sign that I'm either setting the gas or machine up wrong, or operator failure.
Thanks!

Hi Folks, I bought this awesome new Fein Drill for only $99 on Amazon, but now I am snapping Milwaukee drill bits left and right. The bits are snapping in the middle of the bit. I am drilling through 1/4" mild steel plate, using LPS Tapmatic Aquacut Cutting Fluid. Can you recommend a drill bit ...
