Mig Welding Machines

The other day i started to do some reading as to mig welders and have owned a Millermatic 212 Autoset for several years but was just not happy with it not being able to visually see voltage and wire speed on the front panel. As most might know this machine has an “Autoset” feature and you can run it...

Re: Tig 200 lost display

Metalmorphist, I would reach out to a Lincoln service rep on the phone and see what they can do for you first. They might have a simple fix or at least know what the problem is? As others have mentioned sending it in for repairs will most likely be your option since it is several months old. I think...

Re: Built this for 87 year old neighbor

Tungstendipper,
Beautiful work and at a budget price as well. Building a few handrails for my concrete stairs at home and will have powder coated when finished. Only hope they look as nice as your masterpiece? I do purchase some items from King's and also use dom tubing from other supplier.

Cleaning materials before welding

Good morning, Been having some issues as of late with tig welding tube material and flat stock that I believe might not being cleaned well enough by yours truly. A typical bad scenario would be starting an arc an getting an immediate green arc and spitting sound and suddenly it's all over. Tungsten ...

Re: Lincoln dual shield flux core?

Noddybrian, All good tips to know as to your experience with Fluxcore. I ended up ordering a set of knurled rollers for my Millermatic 212 and will set those and the wire up when they arrive, ordered online. Since I am stateside I have no issues sourcing the stuff, plenty of Lincoln suppliers. Ended...

Lincoln dual shield flux core?

Good afternoon, I have heard JD Brewer and Jody talk quite a bit as to using Lincoln's dual shield flux core wire for Mig welding. Specifically is this Lincoln's "Outershield 71 Elite" E71T-1 ? I see that they make several different shielded wire series. I am thinking of switching to this ...

Hydraulic Press Break

Just finished assembly of my newly built hydraulic press break that I had apart for paint. Finally done with it but as per usual a few tweaks will be needed. I purchased the "heavy duty finger break kit from Swag Off Road and decided I did not want the infamous Harbor freight special ( 20 ton p...

4 X 2 CNC Plasma Table Question

Good Morning Forum members, Starting a build on a planned 4 X 2 cnc plasma table and had a question as to a gantry height for the build. I will be using 2 inch box tubing @ .120 wall for all the major components on the table (legs, table, gantry, and gantry riser). Will have a 4 inch deep water pan ...

Re: Everlast 250ex vs 255ext

This might be a biased opinion as I have an EX. I personally like having dials as opposed to a hidden menu affair of the digital based controls . My model has the plastic flip down control cover so you are not getting debris and such onto the controls if you close it when done making adjustments. As...

Re: 5 lb propane holder for camping.

Axleike, I think you did a fine job on your project. I refer to these types of projects as "POC" or proof of concept. For me a POC is when I have a complete project done and functional, a failure means I have no "POC" because my idea did not pan out as planned. More projects mean...

Re: best welding table for beginner

Andy, I have two tables, a certi flat fab block and an outdoor table with legs and lockable wheels. I only use the fab block for tig welding and use the outside table for mig welding. I do not mig weld in my garage, too many flammable items and nicer tools. You can purchase a piece of 1/4" stee...

Re: Smaller Torch

Joe, I have a couple of tig machines, a Lincoln Squarewave Tig 200 and an Everlast PowerTig 250EX. I have changed torches on both machines as I like to kind of modify stuff to my liking. I had an oem original size 17 torch on the 200 but changed to a WeldTec WTS-17 "Stubby" tig torch which...

Re: Purple/Bluish Tungsten

Tungste Dipper,
I will make sure to not do .8 seconds. I have pre-flow set at about 2 seconds. My Lincoln Squarewave Tig 200 has a non settable post flow which runs for quite some time to keep me out of trouble, new to the Everlast .

Coldman,
Did not even think about that, believe that I have post flow set to about 4 seconds? Will turn up post flow time to a minimum of at least 10 seconds or so.

Much appreciated,

Purple/Bluish Tungsten

Good Evening, Had a question as to Tungsten color after welding a little on steel. Been working on a press break hydraulic frame for my garage shop. Doing some welding on parts of the press using my Everlast Tig 250 EX. Using 125 amps dc, 20 cfh argon flow and an Arc Time 3/32 Tungsten with 1/16 ER7...

ex framie,
My 3 leg stool is stiff as a rock, I don't believe any extra bracing would be necessary even for the stoutest of men! No flex what so ever (thick wall tubing on legs)

I did not notice your lathe and grinder in the background behind your Everlast welder? Looks like Metal Central. A small industrial corner of your garage. Nice organization of metal specific tools.

Needed to make a correction, it was Beverly Shears being the Cadillac of shears not Shirley. What was I thinking, obviously not! Ended up buying a Baleigh MPS-1 from Baleigh Industrial Tool online. The shear has a cutting capacity of 14 gauge mild steel which should be fine for what I do.
