Re: CK alternative?

I think that a 20(water cooled) series torch is the same family(parts) as a 9(air cooled)series torch. The 18 series torch is the water cooled version of a 17 series air cooled torch. Bottom line: 17 & 18 are interchangeable. 9 & 20 are interchangeable. 17 is not interchangeable with 9 or 20...

Powermig 256 problem(sorta)

Brother thought he had an issue with our welder where it would only weld for 1 second and then shut off. This was not during a long job. Turned out the "spot timer" disl was turned to 1 second. The only thing we can think of was the dial got moved while taking the cover off. Just a heads u...

Re: Tig cast iron fry pan?

You can easily weld it or braze it. Preheat it (put it in the oven @ 450* for 20 minutes) Weld it (ideally with a nickel-based TIG rod, but ER70 will work too) Braze it (SilBr works fine) Plop it back in the oven that is already hot, turn off the oven and let it cool without opening the door. In li...

Re: Tig welding beginner

I got an eastwood tig 200, I have a 75% co2 argon mix @ 15 cfh and running with a 3/32 tungsten set at 110 amps. The steel is 3/16" and it wasn't cleaned before use. I know that it should be cleaned with a wire brush but I was too lazy to pull out the grinder  . However I don't dip the t...

Re: Welding positioner ?

it depends on the diameter of what your welding, the larger the diameter the slower you need to go, also if the motor doesn't have enough torque the speed won't be consistent. What is your budget for this? I have just been looking at the $3-400 CDN units. Not req'd often but handy to have. Small st...

Welding positioner ?

I am looking at buying a low end for our shop. All units I am looking at have a speed range of 2-10 or 20 rpm.

Do you guys think that the 2 rpm at the low end with still be too fast?

Re: Gas lens back cap

Thanks guys. Upon further looking, i believe I have a Series 3 torch. The gas lens i bought is 45V26(medium). Therefore from the CK chart the collets should work.

Gas lens back cap

I recently bought a Lincoln PT225. It came with a PT17(150A air cooled) torch. I also bought 2 Prostar(Praxair) tig accessory kits to give me availabilty to use from .040 to 1/8" tungston. These kits included amongst other things, a short back cap. Today I bought a gas lens setup in 3/32" ...
