I am curious what order folks would recommend for cutting tool purchases. I would suggest whatever chop style saw first according to budget, then a band saw of some kind, then a oxy-fuel rig and last because it is pretty much a one trick pony a plasma cutter if desired. that is based on 99% fab work...

thin tube is gonna be tough on you regardless I think. if you are dead set on a dc machine I would look at the yes welder 165 and 205 stick machines or better yet a mig machine but like was said prior heavier wall material is your friend I think.

I have a small brass topped table that I hook my ground clamp directly to and have clamped the ground directly to stainless practice pieces so I can't imagine why it would be an issue.

I looked online a few days ago and didn't find any and was in airgas yesterday and didn't see the usual flyers.

I used both alcohol and acetone based on what is closest to me unless removing oil or grease, in those cases I go for the acetone.

I have the Lincoln sw 200 and 2 primeweld machines as well as a couple of yeswelder machines. The SW 200 is the last machine I would get rid of and is the one I would recommend to you because of the A/C ability but if you aren't hung up on having AC tig I would recommend the Lincoln Power Mig 210MP....

I have a hundred pounder so my mind jumped straight to that, as far as the neck goes it is well protected but what can go wrong will go wrong although I agree it would be less likely with the short tank.

I make mine out of old welding jackets and rivet them on, makes all the difference in the world for me.
