band saw stand & welding chair
I no longer can walk or stand so all my machines need to be at sit down level. I needed a new welding/work chair so I first built the saw stand then the new chair, both have worked out great for me.

Re: 25 HP Saylor Beall air compressor
Perhaps a daisy chain setup with a separate storage tank? Cfms are key, so to have a large capacity tank with a combination of smaller volume compressors (two maybe?) might be a solution. We did something similar in a woodshop where I used to work to handle multiple air sanders, nail guns and the f...

Re: 25 HP Saylor Beall air compressor
That's a good looking piece. (Would those be John Deere colors? ) Any idea how many cfm at what pressure it would take to run it? Woodpecker I'm thinking a minimum of around 35 CFM @ 90 PSI and over with at least a 3/4" air supply hose. I thought I could use ball valves to regulate t...

Re: 25 HP Saylor Beall air compressor
I built a blaster thinking it would do a better job than the kind of blaster you stick a tube in a bag of black beauty, but my compressor is way to small to run it.

I use a stiff 3"cup wire brush on my 4 1/2" grinder for removing rust, paint and weld BBs.

Re: Which chopsaw or Bandsaw would you get?
I have a bandsaw but I still use my chop saw for cutting rebar and making cuts where a welded joint prevents the bandsaws vice from holding the steel. Is that a Ridgid when it actually had the cast iron base? I bought one just after they cheapened the base and almost returned it. Then I decided I c...

Ace yes, they are leveling pads. I bought them from ENCO, now MSC Industrial.com I used the same levelers on my lathe only a much larger size also from ENCO. I sure wish ENCO was still ENCO as MSC just jacked all the prices and pretends everything is 40% off. I spent a lot of $$ at ENCO but none ye...

25 HP Saylor Beall air compressor
If I hit the lotto a Saylor & Beall 25 HP compressor is going to be the first thing order. I want to sandblast really bad. My Quincy 5 HP 80-gallon verticle tank can't do the job.

Re: Pistol sight pusher
Heres a gun rest project I built out of 3" square tube, 1" bar stock and 1" althread. I wanted something heavy and adjustable but $100 didn't buy much at the time. I went to my scraps garbage can and pulled out all the steel and althread I needed to build it. This rest stays put and c...

Pistol sight pusher
The shop is closed for the winter so in order to keep my spirits up I'll post a sight pushing project I built couple years ago. I needed to remove the rear sight on my Springfield pistol so I could install a laser, I didn't want to use the hammer and punch method to remove the factory sight for fear...

Re: work lights
i had lights like those on my mill and was using some water based coolant and the cutter splashed some coolant on the glass and it pretty much exploded from the rapid cooling. so be careful if you use a heavy amount of coolant near them. Thanks Kblenker, that is some very valuable safety info, I ap...

Re: work lights
Use those pieces of garbage on the farm. Last time I was in the straw chopper on a combine. Light had to be right next to me. Every other second it was "Ahh" or "Damn." Or you'd turn them off and move them a minute later and burn yourself again cause they don't cool off and you ...

And with those switches you don't risk burning yourself on the metal every time you miss the rubber button. That's right Farmwelding. I don't care for push on and off rubber button switches, they always seem to need a few pushes to get them to turn on or off, maybe more expensive ones would be less...

Re: work lights
I've got some halogen lamps in the garage- in the summer with the doors open, bugs get in the garage, are attracted to the light, and get fried onto the halogen bulbs. Big bugs = big stink. But I like your idea. Where are you getting lamps for $8? Artie, I bought them a while ago, I can't remember,...

work lights
Just an Idea some may find helpful. I put switches on my work lights that I use by the mill, the lights are cheap, made from aluminum, bright and their wire grills protect their glass lenses from being broken accidently. I think I paid something like 8 bucks a piece for the lights. I did replace the...
