Re: Northeast Georgia (Gwinnett County)
As an update... I went to Palmers Welding Supply and met Trey and his wife. They are really nice folks. So a 330cf +/- tank of Argon, yearly rental, is $80+tax including the first fill. Refills are $68 and if they come to do the swap out there is a $10 fee. Which for me, someone with disabilities, I...

Re: Northeast Georgia (Gwinnett County)
That is not terribly far from me at all. The traffic will suck, but 24 miles isnt bad. I wonder why they never came up on any of my searches...?

Oscar started this thread: http://forum.weldingtipsandtricks.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9890&p=77326&hilit=definitive#p77326 ...which you may find useful. Are you looking for gas prices in your area, or supplies generally? Look for a supplier other than Airgas or NextAir. I am new to gas/t...

Re: Northeast Georgia (Gwinnett County)
Every time you see one of these in your area, get the name and number off the side. Not all are BIG names. These are "local" deliverers, and have a local base of operations, and most will have retail. Granted, it might be 30 or 40 miles from Buford, but if it's a "mom and pop", ...

Re: Northeast Georgia (Gwinnett County)
That is why I was hoping to find someone local that posts here. Maybe find out who they are using etc...
Actually Airgas was cheaper than Nextair. So far the Airgas folks have been really nice and helping answering my questions.
If I cant find a mom & pop I will probably go with Airgas.

Re: Northeast Georgia (Gwinnett County)
Also know that "No Name" bottles may not be filled unless the bottle carries an inspection sticker more recent than 5 years (depending upon size). You might call the local shops you mentioned and find out exactly what they do charge. It may not be as bad as you think, or, it might be less...

Re: Northeast Georgia (Gwinnett County)
My understanding is that yes, if a company name is stamped on the collar quit a few companies won't refill. But if you buy a bare cylinder with no stampings on the collar there usually isn't a problem getting filled. Also, I have looked around and can't find a place to get a tank refilled, rented, l...

Northeast Georgia (Gwinnett County)
Hi, If there are members in this area, can you provide some insight on where to get a leased tank (or purchase one at a reasonable price) and argon? I know there is a Nextair and AirGas near me, but I have heard they can be rather expensive. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking...

LINCOLN VIKING 3350 SERIES ALL AMERICAN HELMET
Hi, Just wanted to let everyone know Welding Supplies From IOC has really good prices on helmets. And, if you sign up for their mailing list you get $15 off anything over $150. I bought the Lincoln 3550 All American for $224.99 + Free Shipping. This helmet usually sells for around $261.00. All Ameri...

Re: Torch questions
Kym Kym thanks for the vid link it was very informative. I need to get some decent consumables for my two torches. Re: Torch questions
Well there we go. :) So like I first asked... other than being watercooled, what is the difference between a 17 and 20 torch? I know I am newbie when it comes to gig, but why have two numbers to identify a torch that is the same size? Why are parts listed for each if there are no differences? I'm n...

Re: Torch questions
Hi, Actually the 17 torch I have is like a CK with a Roto head torch and superflex hose. I have not even taken them out of the packaging yet LOL... well just enough to look at them a little bit anyway. I figure that until I get a argon gas tank there is no use really. But I will get them out tomorr...

Re: Torch questions
Other than appearing slightly larger than the 17, the 20 is water cooled That doesn't sound right, the 20 should not be larger than the 17. My CK 20 is a hair larger than the Weldcraft 9 (the middle rubber cylinder is a tiny bit larger in diameter, I guess to accommodate the waterflow, but it also ...

Re: Torch questions
Yeah, Dean, It sounds like you've got everything you need. I mean, if you've got the water cooler, use the water-cooled torch. And I don't find a CK torch to be any better than the cheap $19, flex and rigid ones. But I do like the CK Superflex hoses. They're not cheap, but they're lighter and mor f...

Torch questions
Hi Everyone. Two different torches cam with my welder, a 17 air cooled and a 20 water cooled. Other than appearing slightly larger than the 17, the 20 is water cooled but is there any other advantage working with either torch? I guess I need to back up a little and let you all know what I have and m...

Re: Just registered
Thank you ! What caught youre attention about the name? LOL I started using this name back in the early 90's. My first competition rifle was a AR15 and the first competition I shot was the Director of Civilian Marksmanship service rifle match. Thus came the name AR15DCM. If you search it using quote...

Re: Just registered

I envision myself primarily TIG welding for my projects as they are usually smaller tasks which will need some good looking small welds et...

Just registered
Hello, I just finished registering and setting up my profile and thought I would post an introduction. I have not welded in quite a while but figured a welder would be nice to have around the shop. So, I have been shopping around for a new AC/DC Tig welder around 200 amps. I ran across WeldingTipsan...
