Re: Purging Stainless
i made a T coming off my argon hose on my bottle. one goes to my torch and the other goes to a valve with a hose coming off of it. if i need to purge a tube i watch my flow meter when i crack the valve a little to make sure the gas coming out of the torch is fine. not super fancy but it works well....

Re: viking 3350
I was gonna post in this thread and say that I've had mine about 9 months and its been fine. Then thought whats the point of that, not really useful info. However went to use it today and battery is gone. Its reading 2.2V. So I got a new battery and all is well but I'll go measure the new one and s...

Re: viking 3350
Assuming this takes lithium coin cells a new one should read over 3 volts - it's possible the screen is faulty but it's more likely you got unlucky & have a bad battery - it does happen. I wish that was the case, i bought 2 brand new batterys. So i doubt both of them were bad. I tested them vol...

Re: viking 3350
I have the previous version of the 3350 with the 1/1/1/1 clarity and have been coveting the 4c since it came out. Even my version is such a jump in weld visibility over my old speedglass it isn't even funny. Can't wait to get the new version. I never knew it was that drastic of a change, i weld pro...

Lense is clear, not green anymore. Its showing real colors. not the same as my cheapy jackson. view is great. I really like how the viking lights up the entire work piece vs just the weld area. Not critical but nice. Great view of weld puddle. i weld a bunch of different things from 30amps to 170 u...

Haha, that's awesome  Millers protective plastic is covered with "Miller" so you can't weld with them on but I am sure i would have done the same as I am very careful with my hood. Well, not that careful but you know what I mean. Yup, like nailpounder said, its just one of those thin...

i hope this is the right place for this. I have a viking 3350 that i just got and i know this is probably a dumb question but there is a thin green film on the inside of the lense. Is this supposed to come off or stay on? I have been welding with it on for a couple weeks....lmao.

Re: question about tig torches
Yeah, And if you do tend to exceed the duty cycle, you might just consider using the wedge collets, as that's where you'll get the most abuse from the heat, which tends to "corkscrew" a typical collet. Im experiencing now what this exactly means. My normal "half" looking collet ...

Re: New to Welding!
If you try to start on the edge of thin aluminum it is always gonna peel back. You can weld up to the edge but you can't really start from the edge. Maybe some guys can, I can't. You won't ever see Jody do this in his videos either. Tacks are always placed a few millimeters from the edge. The reaso...
