Re: Fear of Heights

I was always uncomfortable being up high until I helped my cousin out roofing for a summer. The first couple of roofs I was a big baby up there, I volunteered to be the ground guy clean up guy. After I got some time in I became more comfortable. I still don't like being up high but the more time you...

Re: ever back yourself into a corner??

hey thanks for the kind words. Im no expert but I don't mind working hard to learn something new. And to Mikelove- With smaller welding repairs I seem to keep busy with the dump truck guys, asphalt chutes and tailgate locks are always breaking, floors wear out and the list goes on. The landscape guy...

Re: ever back yourself into a corner??

My side work funds my tool investments. Start small but reinvest. If your 9-5 pays the bills then try to go out weekends and take on small jobs. Take the profit and put it in your tool fund. I started working in the car / light truck repair business out of high school and would hustle brake jobs on ...

Re: Practice with 7018

I'm not a pro when it comes to stick welding but in my experience theres many more variables than amperage ( angle, arc length, travel speed). I think get the numbers pretty close and burn some rod. say 120 for 7018 1/8 and you can have different results with the same amperage especially when paddin...

Lincoln Ranger Undercarriage/ Cart

Hey I just purchased a used lincoln ranger 250. Its mounted on my service truck. The previous owner had the machine mounted on Lincolns All terrain cart/dolly Part number k17371-1. The machine was well balanced on the cart and was super easy to move around. I don't see myself having to move it aroun...

Re: Used TIG Welder questions

How about a used stick welder. Maybe like a miller thunderbolt or something similar. I always see them cheap used. Then you could pick up a tig torch and adaptor. May only be scratch start but perfect to learn with. Just a thought.

Re: Millermatic 140 vs. others

A friend of mine has a millermatic 140. He uses it for body work, sheet metal ect. Anything thicker and you'll want more power. For the price you could learn on it and if you end up needing something bigger you should get all the money back toward a bigger machine.

Miller Multimatic 200 thoughts?

So I've had a multimatic 200 for a few years now. I must say this machine does a great job. Why don't I see a lot of feedback on this machine on the web like I do with other similar machines? Is it too high on the price? Im not a pro but it mig welds like a dream. Runs 1/8 7018 all day on 220. Any t...
