Re: CK Flex Loc questions??

You can order that torch with either the -2 or -3, and alternately order the other head set. They are interchangeable. Keep in mind, the flex-loc is only water-cooled to the knuckle where the head swivels, so you gain nothing in duty cycle. You only gain the ability to use a very broad range of cup...

CK Flex Loc questions??

Can I use 2 series heads on a 250a CK FL2525SF? I ask because I am thinking about buying one of these awesome torches and wanted to know if I could order the CK FL2L FlexLoc Head 2 Series along with the torch and have a 2 series setup ready to change out at will. Hoping some of you more experienced ...

Re: Strong hand tools magtab failure....

Too close lol, and yes tine for a new magnet. I wonder if I can fix the magnet in some way.

I mean in theory if it can lose its magnetism then it should be able to gain it some way.

Re: Strong hand tools magtab failure....

Well I ran a weld about 3 inches long and the magnet let go... exact temperature only God knows .. And yes the way to harden steel is to heat it to red or better where it passes the nonmagnetic point and then quenching it in some sort of quenching solution to refine the crystalline structures. I jus...

Strong hand tools magtab failure....

Howdy,

Had a magtab drop a piece of steel today. Just quit on me.. I assume the heat caused it to give out.

Has anyone else here had any issues like this before?? If so please share.

Re: Oxidization when Welding Aluminum

I also am new to tig welding...
I probably dipped my tungsten 15 times the first night. Twice tonight..

I am not the expert, however my experience leads me to believe that your losing gas coverage when everything soots up.

Re: Inverter picky on 6011 rods

So I did get a hold of some 6011 Fleetweld 3/32 and 1/8..... both work almost flawlessly. I am running a Lincoln/Century 120 inverter on 110, it needs at least a 30A breaker for the bigger welding rods. I am on a 20a breaker and I can weld with 1/8 6011 Fleetwelds all day. So my prognosis is that th...

Re: Howdy! Miller,Lincoln, or Hobart??

Welcome to the forum. Coming from a miller guy, I'd choose Hobart. Hobart and Miller stick welders are pretty much the same thing except Hobart is cheaper. Main problem with Lincoln tombstones is the lack of amperage adjustability. And as Artie said go with AC-DC for a little bigger price for a bet...

Re: Howdy! Miller,Lincoln, or Hobart??

Welcome to the forum, and to welding! Judging by your avatar, it looks like you're no stranger to handling hot metal! I think these call for a 220v 50a power supply, but I ran my Thunderbolt on an extension cord from my 30a clothes dryer outlet (through a window and outside, of course). Do you have...

Howdy! Miller,Lincoln, or Hobart??

I'm new to welding. Looking to learn from some more experienced folks.

Thinking about buying a decent stick welder.....
Looking at the Thunderbolt XL, Lincoln Tombstone, or Hobart Stickmate

Which one would you choose and why?

Thanks,
NSFH

Re: Inverter picky on 6011 rods

I too am having this issue with cheaper 6011 rods(Chicago Electric1/8,3/32, and Inweld 1/8)
My Fleetweld 6013 run like a champ.
