Spray and "jewelry" welding
Hey Jody. Like your vids. I don't know who else to ask, I know you major in the stuff which get a job. I have one of those jobs... I do mold repair in a small company. I have a PUK III spot TIG gizmo. I've also tried spray welding. There is little out there about these things. You ever want to do a ...

Spray welding question adapter needed
Hi guys, I don't know anyplace else to go for help. I got a cheap chinese spray welder for oxy since I only have 1 item to repair. The fittings don't fit! I've got B size ends on the hose and the torch inputs are like .470 diameter of the threads so no luck. This .470 thing looks about 19 TPI but gu...

Re: Spray welding question
Thanks cj, Yeah, I know. There's a MIG arc spray technique I found, but alas, I have no MIG. Just Oxy/Acy and a Tig box. A buddy at work has a buddy... with a powder spray gizmo for oxy. He's supposed to text me tonight. Either way, it's one machine down and not an emergency, right now, anyway. God ...

Hi guys, I'm fishin here. Got a 1.5 inch punch press shaft chewed up .040" on the diameter. Is spray welding something I should try? I see kits for oxyacet which are around $400. We might do this once every 2 years. Any advice or experience with this is highly appreciated. I'm thinking I don't ...

Well it worked.
Anyone know of a repair shop for my PUK3 micro TIG? I don't think it's putting out full power. .020" tungsten. I'm near Philly.

Hi, I have this mold to repair. This is one of 2 slides. The apex left of center has to be built up. There are 4 total areas to fix. I have a PUK 3 micro but it needs work so I can't use that. Are there videos addressing something like this? Any thoughts on it, weld away from it to start then build ...

New type tungsten?
Fellow at work gave me a 3/32 to try. It's light green - olive color. He said with aluminum it doesn't ball up.
Anyone know what this is?
Thanks!

Yeah, I know. Thorium belongs in cathodes on vacuum tubes, sealed up behind glass, not red hot on my tungsten inches away from my nose.
I told the guy, No Red. We'll see if English works here. Stay tuned.

Tweake. Good idea. No timeclock, and maybe 2 people have the same hours in the shop. Good idea about the camera, but also, where the monitor is. We never thought about that. Some new people are "swinging time". A term I got from truckers calling from my office telling their dispatchers the...

Won't hurt anything, but should I lay law down? I don't need thoriated in my shop and stated that to him. Wha...

That sounds low. My 18cf hobby argon is 1400 and I don't like that.

Removing rainbow colorization, and, maybe sugaring?
Hey guys, I have a deco project. Not functional, no fears. Is there a Chem to remove the rainbow? My project is thin and narrow so not much sugaring on the farside, so this is secondary. I am sure there are some serious treatments out there. (In an industrial setting) This is for outside in a contai...

Re: drill/tap TIG-welds in 304SS?
My first job. Drill dept. at Leeds & Northrup. 1 thing I learned, dull your drill bit slightly. It will last much longer. 302 and 304 are bitches to tap. Do it by hand. Thick lube of course. 316 we did a lot. Much easier tapping. Seems more ductile than 302/304. Weld 300 series. Never fear, it d...

Thanks Oscar, and all... I decided to get a green one again. I'm a musician as well... with music gear I have GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) I guess I have it for welding as well. I ordered an AC/DC midrange Everlast. Now, if Airgas will exchange my nitrogen tank from beer brewing for an argon tank...

Re: You'll have to lower yourself to answer this one
Thanks guys. My aching back tells me to get an inverter. I'm thinking to forget aluminum and get a small DC machine. I have a s#!tload of 316 rings from a product we stopped making and want to do a deco project with them. About 80 amps, blast a fusion weld. I got some FC SS wire and tried it at home...

Re: You'll have to lower yourself to answer this one
Thanks Oscar, I'm not really a beginner, welding is just a small bit of my time at work. It'd be great to find USA made, but I'm sure they're way pricey. I do have an Everlast which has treated me well at work. Maybe I'll just have to spend $$$. "Too good to be true" has bitten me in the a...
